Amy Adams reveals her experience preparing for her lead role in Nightbitch

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Amy Adams spoke about her partnership with director Marielle Heller and the steps she took to prepare for her character. Adams shared her admiration for Rachel Yoder’s novel, describing it as “uniquely otherworldly” and “unlike anything I had ever read before.”

Adams had already read the novel prior to its publication, as revealed by the source. Her production company collaborated with Annapurna Pictures to acquire the rights.

Adams shared her connection to the novel’s theme of identity loss, drawing parallels to her own transformation while embodying the character. She described this organic process as feeling natural and authentic. Moreover, she acknowledged observing physical changes in herself over time, regarding these alterations as a natural part of our bodies adapting – be it through life’s milestones such as childbirth or aging.

In a heartfelt exchange, Yoder’s renowned author, who accompanied the actress in their conversation, expressed her views on Adams’ character portrayal. She described it as a complex blend of “deep emotional distress” and “ridiculous circumstances.” The media reported that in contrast to her role in Enchanted, Adams will not be using “makeup additions” for her upcoming project.

Amy Adams shared that she paid little heed to her “outward looks” during acting, instead immersing herself completely in her character. This intense focus brought her a sense of freedom, yet at the same time, it was an unsettling experience.

Amy Adams says Marielle Heller was the ‘first’ choice to direct Nightbitch

In an open conversation with the media, Amy Adams shared that Marielle Heller was their top pick to direct the film. “Mari was our initial preference among potential dream directors,” Adams stated.

When someone asks me to explain the movie Heller made, I reply, “It’s a story of motherhood and fury. If you get it, you do. If not, maybe give it another try.”

In Nightbitch, Adams portrays a mom who lives in the suburbs and takes care of her toddler full-time. Gradually, she discovers and connects with the wild instincts inherent in motherhood, as strange and incontrovertible indications emerge that she might be transforming into a dog.

Simultaneously, Nightbitch is predicted to hit theaters on December 6, 2024. Joining Amy Adams in this production are Scoot McNairy, Ella Thomas, Emmett James Snowden, Arleigh Patrick Snowden, and Mary Holland, along with other skilled actors.
