As we get closer to the airdate for Season 7 of The Rookie, fans are buzzing with anticipation over how the plot will unfold. Intriguingly, during the lead-up to the season’s debut, the showrunner, Alexi Hawley, dropped a surprising piece of information: one prominent character is set to depart from the series.
As reported by co-creator Tru Valentino, who portrays Officer Aaron Thorsen in the series, the character will have reduced screen time moving forward starting with the upcoming episodes. The actor has been a key cast member since the fourth season.
To make things clear about Valentino’s departure, Hawley confirmed that he is indeed still “alive and kicking” within the narrative, leaving open the possibility for his return in upcoming seasons.
During a chat with Screen Rant, the show’s manager disclosed that the actor chose to depart from the show because of artistic differences. However, there’s a strong possibility that Valentino could still become part of the cast in the future.
During an interview, Hawley expressed, “Absolutely, Valentino (Tru) is a superb actor and played a significant role on our series for multiple seasons. We’d be thrilled to have him rejoin us somehow. However, from a creative standpoint, as the show evolved, we decided it was best to make some adjustments. But rest assured, his character continues to live on in our storyline.
Previously on The Rookie, there was intense conflict between Tim and Lucy, and the team was gearing up for their most challenging operation yet.
Regarding the actors in the series, Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Melissa O’Neil, Eric Winter, Mekia Cox, Shawn Ashmore, Jenna Dewan, and Lisseth Chavez will once again take on their characters. Additionally, new actors are set to join the family of characters, exciting news for the show’s fans.
Additionally, it was disclosed that Eric Augustine and Patrick Keleher, two notable guest actors, will contribute to the intensity within the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
Augustine, taking on the part of Miles, is a transfer from Texas with two years of experience. However, in his new role at the LAPD, he will still be considered a fresh recruit. Concerning Seth’s character, the actor will depict a police officer who might appear perfect for the job. But, as the work demands prompt and decisive actions, it’s unfortunate that such instincts don’t come easily to him.
Season 7 of The Rookie will premiere on January 7 on the ABC network.
