As a dedicated fan of horror films and a connoisseur of exceptional acting performances, I am absolutely thrilled about the casting news for Scream 7! Isabel May, a versatile actress who has graced our screens with her talents on shows like Alexa & Katie, Young Sheldon, and most recently, 1883, will be joining the iconic Sidney Prescott, played by Neve Campbell. This young talent brings a fresh energy that I believe will breathe new life into the series.
1883 actress Isabel May has secured a role as the daughter of Neve Campbell’s character, Sidney Prescott, in Spyglass Media Group’s forthcoming “Scream 7”. The agreement has been officially confirmed.
This American actress is mainly recognized for her portrayal of Katie Cooper in the Netflix show “Alexa & Katie,” as well as for her recurring character, Veronica Duncan, on “Young Sheldon” from CBS. In the movie “Run Hide Fight,” she played the lead role of Zoe Hull. Currently, she voices the narrator and plays the leading character in the Paramount+ series “1883.
In the upcoming Scream film, acting veterans Neve Campbell and Courteney Cox, reprising their roles as Gale Weathers, will be part of the cast. Regrettably, Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera, who were featured in the last two installments, won’t appear this time around. Ortega had to withdraw due to her packed schedule, which includes commitments like the series Wednesday, among other projects. Barrera was released from the project last year, following a dispute concerning her social media comments about the Israel-Hamas conflict.
The seventh Scream movie is all set for a release, much like the previous two. It’s slated to premiere in cinemas on February 27, 2026. This time around, Kevin Williamson, who originated the series and penned the 1996 film under Wes Craven’s direction, is taking the helm as director. The script for this film has been crafted by Guy Busick, a writer who also contributed to the 2022 versions of Scream and Scream VI. James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein from Project X Entertainment are producing this project.
As a devoted fan, I can’t help but express my excitement over the acclaimed quartet of “Scream” films – “Scream” (1996), “Scream 2” (1997), the latest installment in 2022, and the upcoming “Scream VI” in 2023. Critics have showered them with praise. However, it’s important to note that “Scream 3” (2000) and “Scream 4” (2011), while not universally loved at the time of their release, were later reevaluated. Particularly, “Scream 4” was often seen as a comeback for the series by its devoted fanbase.
In terms of commercial success, the initial three movies and the fifth and sixth installments were big hits at the cinema, but Scream 4 struggled domestically. The Scream film franchise has further garnered numerous awards and nominations; it won Best Movie twice at the MTV Awards, in 1996 for the original Scream and again in 2023 for Scream V.
