As a dedicated follower of Yellowstone, I find myself gripped by the tension surrounding the fate of the Dutton ranch. With the finale episode just around the corner, the intricate plot twists have me on the edge of my seat.
Currently, all Yellowstone fans can’t help but ponder if the Dutton family will manage to preserve their renowned ranch. With the final episode of the show swiftly approaching, the narrative seems to be becoming more focused, offering a glimpse into what the last chapter of this season might encompass.
The content ahead contains spoilers for Episode 13 of Season 5 of Yellowstone.
As Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) earns more than $30 million by selling off the ranch’s livestock and equipment during an ongoing auction, her brother Kayce (Luke Grimes) proposes a brilliant plan that leaves even Beth, known for her shrewdness, puzzled and wondering why she hadn’t thought of it herself.
In the recent episode of Yellowstone that aired on December 8, Kayce poses a question to his sister about her car, specifically her Bentley. To which she replies, “Since it’s leased, it doesn’t hold any value.
Kayce persistently asks Beth about the car’s price, and she replies with “$30,000” as the cost. In response, Kayce inquires jokingly, “What if I bought it from you for just $1, would that be against the law?” However, Beth denies this scenario.
Afterward, Kayce explores in greater detail his possible strategy for preserving the family ranch, analyzing the tax structure and determining that he would owe the government solely based on what he paid for the car, not its current worth. This same principle also applies to their ranch, which is currently being sold, suggesting that the payment would be based only on the original purchase price.
Beth ponders aloud, “How come I didn’t consider that?” as she races after him towards his truck, inquiring about a possible trustworthy purchaser for their farm. However, his response fails to satisfy her.
No matter what, Beth commends her brother on his intellect, playfully saying, “You’re more intelligent than you appear, my little brother.
Whenever Monica tries to draw a response from Kayce, he remains silent, instead underscoring, “The only means to preserve this location is by giving it up.
If you’re unsure about how Kayce intends to protect the ranch, here’s what I gather: He suggests they arrange a sale to a reliable buyer at a price significantly lower than the real value. This move would alleviate any personal tax obligations and safeguard the land from being lost entirely.
On Sunday, December 15th at 8 PM Eastern and Pacific Time on Paramount, the final episode of Yellowstone will reveal which individuals Kayce involves in his clever tax evasion strategy aimed at securing the Dutton ranch for the long term.
