As a long-time Marvel fan with countless hours spent poring over comic books and watching movies, I must say that Agatha All Along has managed to capture the essence of the comics while adding its own unique charm. The blend of humor, pop culture references, and witchcraft is nothing short of delightful!
Agatha All Along made its debut with the first two episodes, living up to the expectations built by its promotional materials. The series skillfully combines elements of campy magic, pop culture nods, and humor in a way that is effortless and engaging. It sets a strong base for viewers who are left guessing if Agatha could be embarking on a redemption path similar to Loki’s.
In the initial episodes, there are hints dropped about various enigmas, such as the real persona behind Joe Locke’s character, often referred to as The Teen.
It’s widely believed that the main character, “The Teen,” might in reality be Billy Kaplan, who goes by Billy Maximoff or Wiccan in the comic books. This assumption is backed up by details found in one of the show’s previews.
The main issue with this theory is that Billy was supposed to be dead, as both he and his brother disintegrated when Wanda made peace with Vision’s death. The show might resolve this by suggesting that Scarlet Witch’s spell, initially intended to trap Agatha, inadvertently brought him back to life. Alternatively, The Teen could be seeking to walk the Witches’ Road to gain life or become real, reminiscent of a Wizard of Oz-style quest, and then rescue his mother.
The program is making an effort to conceal his true identity, casting a veil of mystery over his history that’s shrouded in secrecy, even for the viewers themselves.
An alternative, somewhat unpopular suggestion is that The Teen could be Agatha’s child. In a particular scene, prior to recalling her memories, Agatha enters a room embellished with mystical symbols where she encounters the name “Nicholas Scratch.
In the world of comic books, Agatha has a troubled son named Nicholas. They were both residents of New Salem, a hidden town inhabited by witches and warlocks, with Agatha serving as its founding leader. The name Nicholas is suggestive of the Devil, being a combination of “Old Nick” and “Mr. Scratch.
In a twist of events, Agatha departed New Salem to seek a regular life, only for Nicholas to betray her later on. He orchestrated a faction that came close to carrying out her execution. However, Agatha was miraculously saved and New Salem turned against Nicholas, resulting in his exile to the Dark Realm. There, he found himself serving Dormammu and eventually forming an alliance with Mephisto, who is similar to Marvel’s Devil. Rumors swirl that Mephisto might make an appearance in “Agatha All Along“, with whispers suggesting that Blackheart could also be part of the storyline.
It’s more doubtful that this theory holds water given the strong indication that Agatha’s “son” is actually her pet rabbit, Senor Scratchy. This is suggested by his frequent appearances in the initial episodes, which may lead us to question his status as merely a pet.
