As reported by IndieWire, “The Substance” is set for a comeback, being shown in over 350 cinemas all over the U.S. starting from January 17, 2025.

After Demi Moore’s recent triumph at the Golden Globes as Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical, the creators of her upcoming body horror film are optimistic that this success will draw in an even bigger cinema-going crowd.

For the benefit of those not in the know, “The Substance” received nominations across various categories as well. These include Best Director, Best Movie, Best Written Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actress, with Margaret Qualley being recognized.

It’s being speculated that, due to its remarkable performance, the movie could potentially receive recognition at the Oscars as well.

The Movie debuted on September 20, 2024, and not only that, but it also had its initial screening at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. There, it was honored with the accolade for Exceptional Screenwriting.

The film revolves around Elizabeth Sparkle, a once prominent figure in the entertainment industry, who finds herself jobless after being dismissed from her TV show by her producer due to her advanced age. Desperate and anxious, Demi Moore’s character, Elizabeth Sparkle, resorts to an illegal substance rumored to reveal a more youthful version of herself. However, this seemingly magical cure has a terrifying and perilous price to pay.
