Is The Scary Movie Franchise Coming Back? Wayans Brothers Reunite To Share Major Update

As a die-hard fan who has lived through the hilarious chaos of the Scary Movie franchise since its inception, I can hardly contain my excitement! Marlon Wayans and his brothers Keenan Ivory Wayans and Shawn are returning to the horror-spoof series after a 20-year hiatus, and I’m ready to be scared (and laugh) all over again.

Ghostface, the iconic character, returns once more to terrorize and amuse you in your nightmares. Notably, Marlon Wayans has shared exciting news on social media about the cherished Scary Movie series.

On October 29, 2024, Marlon revealed that he, along with his siblings Keenan Ivory Wayans and Shawn, plan to rejoin the horror-parody film series.

He began to reveal the news stating “Last week i said i had a HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT to make well here it is … ” 

Captivating the audience’s thoughts, he aimed to leave a lasting impression by announcing that, after a gap of 20 years, he and his siblings would revive their comedic stories once more.

“A return to the SCARY MOVIE franchise!” Marlon wrote in his Instagram post. 

He continued to state that the trio is looking forward to having fun on the big screen in the future. Marlon Wayans posted these exciting words alongside a picture of Ghostface and himself posing for another adventure. 

According to the deadline, the Wayans brothers are set to collaborate with Rick Alvarez on the script for an upcoming movie. It’s also been hinted that this film will hit the big screen soon after its production, which is scheduled to wrap up by next year.

In the year 2001, the Wayans brothers worked on Scary Movie for the final time, but the series went on to produce three additional films that ended with Scary Movie 5 in 2013.

Keenan handled the directing responsibilities for the initial two installments of Scary Movie, featuring Marlon and Shawn as stars. Interestingly, these brothers were part of the writing team behind the original Scary Movie and its follow-up as well. The first Scary Movie hit theaters all the way back in 2000.

Discussing with Deadline, the Wayans brothers expressed their enthusiasm about rejoining the Scary Movie series.

Additionally, the brothers announced their intention to revive the franchise they initially established more than two decades ago, with the goal of eliciting laughter similar to what they previously achieved.

I had the pleasure of joining forces with Anna Faris and Regina Hall in the initial installment of Scary Movie. This franchise is renowned for its comedic take on iconic horror movies, such as Scream, the chilling The Blair Witch Project, and the enigmatic The Sixth Sense.
