Is PEACEMAKER’S ‘Perfect’ Alt-Universe Secretly Anything But?

In the second season of “Peacemaker”, Christopher Smith (John Cena) discovered an alternate universe where his previously abusive father Auggie (Robert Patrick) is a loving dad who teams up with him to fight crime. His brother Keith (David Denman) is alive and thriving, and they work together as superheroes. Despite issues with Emelia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland), she appears open to rekindling their relationship. To top it off, Peacemaker is admired in this world as a popular member of the crime-fighting Top Trio, consisting of him, his dad, and his brother.

However, a user named isuperbba on Instagram argues that the “alt-world” is far from ideal, possibly even a domain governed by white supremacists. It’s as if the Nazis emerged victorious in World War II. His arguments are compelling, and he certainly has managed to persuade us of his point of view. Here, he lays out his perspective for you to consider.

Based on our viewing of episode three from season two of Peacemaker, and spending a considerable time exploring the alternate reality, we’re almost positively convinced of this theory. The remarkable observation is that every background character in town and each A.R.G.U.S. agent we encounter are Caucasian. It seems plausible that Peacemaker’s father isn’t aggressive because such behavior might not be considered abusive in this world. In this parallel universe, harboring hateful views is accepted as the norm, making him a hero rather than an outcast. Even the rock music posters on Chris’s wall in the alternate reality only depict bands led by white artists. The evidence, while circumstantial, strongly suggests this interpretation.

The news article features the Top Trio overcoming the Rainbow Creature, an obscure villain from Batman’s Silver Age. During this time, Batman often encountered aliens and monsters more than common criminals in costumes. However, director James Gunn doesn’t include seemingly nonsensical Easter eggs like that without a hidden significance. The Rainbow creature could symbolize the need for unity among different cultures or possibly represent the LGBTQ community’s rainbow flag, given that Nazis historically have shown hostility towards them.

The way Blüdhaven is pronounced holds significant meaning as well. Although it’s a German name, typically German names in America are anglicized when pronounced. However, in the comic series Creature Commandos, Blüdhaven has been heard as BLOOD-haven. In an alternate universe where Germany won World War II, one might expect a more rigid adherence to German norms. This subtle detail could be indicative of how this white supremacist world was formed.

In this world, Emelia Harcourt is more like a office worker rather than the tough action hero we know from our world. She dresses in feminine attire and seems less assertive. Given the strict gender roles in this alternate reality, it’s plausible that Emelia would not hold a traditionally masculine job as she does in our world. While this interpretation may appear somewhat speculative, we believe it to be accurate.

In simpler terms, the DC universe has a history that includes an alternate Earth where the Nazis won World War II, known as “Earth X.” On this Earth, the Freedom Fighters, heroic resistance fighters against the Nazis, continued their struggle into the 1980s. This world has appeared multiple times within the DC Multiverse. In the CW’s Arrowverse, a crossover event named “Crisis on Earth-X” was introduced, and while the name may not be used in the show “Peacemaker,” it is likely that we will encounter an equivalent world named something else. This could potentially mean the presence of Nazi versions of DC Universe heroes, but we’ll have to wait and see. However, this seemingly ideal world might not be as perfect as it seems.
