Is Milla Blake’s Character From Netflix’s Apple Cider Vinegar Based On A Real Person?

Netflix’s latest project, titled “Apple Cider Vinegar,” has captured the attention of viewers everywhere, with many finding themselves glued to their screens, eagerly consuming the entire series. Given that the character Mel Gibson appears to be based on a real individual, there is much curiosity surrounding Milla Blake’s portrayal – specifically, whether her character is inspired by an actual person or merely fictionalized.

Based on various accounts, it appears that the role portrayed by Alycia Debnam-Carey may have been influenced by real-life blogger Jessica Ainscough, according to an article from RadioTimes.

Samantha Strauss, the show’s creator, told Tudum by Netflix:

In my opinion, Milla represents the likeness of influential figures during that period. However, she’s deeply engrossed in her struggle for survival, a battle which causes her to lose sight of reality.

If you’re not aware, Jessica was a young Australian woman who was diagnosed with epithelioid sarcoma when she was 22 years old in the year 2008, as per available accounts.

Jessica embarked on chronicling her health voyage via blogging, employing various healing methods, under the moniker “The Battlefield of Wellness.

As per Elle’s report, Jessica declined her doctor’s advice for amputation and opted for an alternate healing approach known as Gerson Therapy instead.

It was said that she drank only raw juices and performed five coffee enema treatments daily. For a while, this seemed effective. Eventually, she amassed an enormous fanbase.

Back in 2013, Jessica obtained a publishing contract for her book “Make Peace With Your Plate” and went on to establish a significant presence as an inspirational public speaker, as reported by Elle magazine.

Unfortunately, Jessica died in the year 2015. Her mother, who was battling breast cancer and followed the Gerson Therapy, passed away in 2013 as stated by the source.

Apple Cider Vinegar is now available for streaming on Netflix.
