Is James Gunn Writing Script for Superman Sequel? Here’s What We Know

In recent times, Superman made its debut and received positive feedback from both viewers and critics. With the movie still fresh in everyone’s minds, Director James Gunn has shared that he’s currently developing the script for a follow-up film.

On his Twitter account, Gunn posted an update about Peacemaker and a potential sequel after the movie’s successful release. On the social networking site, the head of DC expressed, “Press for Peacemaker and sequel scriptwriting!!!”.

Furthermore, Gunn clarified to prevent misunderstandings, “This film remains unchanged. Superman plays a significant part in it. It’s not ‘Superman 2.'”

All about the Superman sequel

Earlier, during an interview with Entertainment Weekly, James Gunn clarified the rumors about a new Superman film. Although this upcoming project won’t officially be called “Superman 2,” it does continue the storyline of the original Superman, serving as a sequel.

Gunn clarified, “The project I’m engaged with bears some resemblance to… Indeed, yes, yes, yes, yes. However, it isn’t exactly a direct sequel to Superman. At least, not in the most straightforward sense.” The movie is currently under development, so specifics about the storyline and actors involved are being kept confidential.

Superman hits it out of the park

Speaking of Gunn’s directed Superman movie, it was a box office hit, reaching over $300 million as reported on July 31. The main characters were David Corenswet portraying Superman and Rachel Brosnahan taking the role of Lois Lane.

The storyline revolves around Superman getting entangled in disputes both domestically and internationally, causing doubt about his actions. This situation provides tech magnate Lex Luthor with an opportunity to eliminate the Man of Steel permanently. Will resourceful journalist Lois Lane and Superman’s canine companion Krypto be able to aid him before it’s too late?
