Enthusiasts of the initial Scream series might find joy knowing that David Arquette, who played a character thought dead before, is set to appear once more in the next chapter of the movie, scheduled for release in 2026, as reported by Deadline.
In the upcoming Scream movie, it’s not just Arquette reprising her role as Dewey Riley; there are other familiar faces returning too. Specifically, Scott Foley, known for his portrayal of Roman Bridger, and Matthew Lillard, who played Stu Macher, are reportedly coming back, even though their characters were apparently killed in earlier films.
2024 saw Arquette appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, where he broached the topic of potentially rejoining the franchise. This conversation ensued following a curious fan’s query about his return.
Arquette expressed, “I’m not sure, let me put it this way: I don’t know!” Later on, he added, “There might be a possibility, but I haven’t received any contact yet.
Regarding further information on the new Scream movie, it’s worth noting that this project is being overseen by Kevin Williamson, the same writer behind the script for the initial 1996 Scream film.
Besides Courtney Cox, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Celeste O’Connor, Isabel May, Mckenna Grace, Anna Camp, Mark Consuelos, and Joel McHale, the cast will also include Neve Campbell in the upcoming movie. According to the report, she is set to return as well.
The next installment of the franchise, Scream 7, is set to hit the big screen on February 27, 2026.
