Chris Hemsworth, who first brandished the powerful Mjölnir in Marvel Studios’ original Thor movie more than a decade ago, has since appeared in three sequels and four Avengers films. He’s now preparing to shoot his scenes for the upcoming film “Avengers: Doomsday.” In a recent video from his YouTube channel titled “Thank You! The Legacy of Thor,” Hemsworth looks back on his time portraying the God of Thunder and expresses gratitude to fans for their support and affection towards Thor. This video suggests that Avengers: Doomsday might be Hemsworth’s final outing as the Asgardian Avenger, but we can’t be sure if it’s just a clever tease. You can watch the full video right here:
Along with the video, Chris Hemsworth left this message for his fans:
Experiencing the role of Thor has been an incredibly humbling privilege I’ve carried with me for the past 15 years. Wielding Mjölnir and later Stormbreaker as the Thunder God was a remarkable experience on its own, but what truly elevated it… was doing so alongside you all. Your unwavering enthusiasm, your thunderous applause, and your heartfelt affection for this character have left an indelible mark on me. Thank you for turning my voyage through the Marvel Cinematic Universe into a treasured memory… Now, prepare for Doomsday!
It’s quite possible that the buildup for “Avengers: Doomsday” is just a clever marketing strategy to generate even more excitement. Given its massive scale and anticipation, it hardly seems necessary. However, if fans believe this is the film where Thor meets his end, it certainly adds to the urgency of wanting to watch it. Yet, we’d be shocked if he didn’t show up in “Secret Wars” as well, although that could potentially be Chris Hemsworth’s last outing as Thor – a scenario that feels more probable.
In other words, we’re still hoping to see that Easter egg encounter between Wade and the Odinson (Thor) in Deadpool & Wolverine, as it would be a satisfying conclusion. However, Marvel might just be playing tricks on us, and they could announce a new Thor movie this week. But if this is truly Hemsworth’s final outing as Thor, it’s been an unforgettable journey.
