Mean Bitcoin Futures Funding Rate Is Currently Hovering Around 0.007%

In its weekly gossip session, Glassnode spilled the tea about how Open Interest and Funding Rates are doing. Basically, it’s like checking how many open bets there are on BTC and whether everyone’s losing their shirts or chilling.

“Open Interest” — think of it as the total number of futures contracts people still cling to like a crutch.

So, the graph shows that as Bitcoin’s price tried to do a little dance upwards, open interest flirted with the idea but then decided to cool off and take a nap. Why? Short sellers got whipped into a frenzy and got liquidated faster than you can say ‘ouch.’

Before all the chaos, Bitcoin’s open interest was chilling at 370,000 BTC, but now it’s down to 336,000 BTC. That’s a 10% nap-time shrink—guess people learned their lesson or got run over by the train.

This drop means less risk of a wild rollercoaster, so maybe we can all breathe a little easier, or at least pretend we know what’s going on.
