As a die-hard MCU fan with a decade of comic book knowledge under my belt, I can’t help but feel a rush of excitement as the era of mutants officially begins! The confirmation that Charles Xavier, Beast, and even Channing Tatum’s Gambit will join the Avengers is music to my ears. It’s about time we saw our favorite mutant heroes in action alongside Earth’s mightiest heroes!
Prior to the debut of Deadpool & Wolverine, the Marvel Cinematic Universe subtly alluded to the concept of mutants, yet never with such clarity as we see today. There were numerous hints and hidden references to the X-Men throughout, but this fresh film has made their presence much more overt.
A handful of mutants, including Kamala Khan and Namor, are set to make their appearance in upcoming MCU films. Previous glimpses of Professor X and Beast have been given in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” and “The Marvels”.
It’s been made evident that mutants and the X-Men are set to have a significant impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming saga. In fact, Kevin Feige himself declared that we’ve entered the age of mutants.
The script for a new, live-action adaptation is being penned by Michael Lesslie. As of now, details about the creative team and their narratives remain scarce, but industry insiders are eager to disclose any forthcoming updates.
During a recent Q&A session on Discord, Alex Perez discussed the topic of mutants. A participant inquired about potential X-Men members who could join the ranks of the Avengers. Given the vast number of X-Men, it wouldn’t be feasible to include all of them within the Avengers team.
According to Perez, it’s certain that both Charles Xavier and Beast are set to join the Avengers. There’s a rumor circulating that Channing Tatum’s Gambit could also make an appearance, but this isn’t officially verified as of now.
Alex Perez: Charles Xavier and Beast are definitely part of it. There’s talk about including Channing Tatum’s version of Gambit too. As for the rest, I’m not completely certain just yet.
This is great news for Tatum’s Gambit, especially since he’s been pushing for either his own movie or a role in the main MCU. Fans are excited about the idea too.
In the following query, it was mentioned that an ancient gossip circulated around the idea that the X-Men were once a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), but were erased from the Sacred Timeline by “He Who Remains.” Perez clarified this myth, stating that indeed, the X-Men had been eliminated from the timeline and will reappear after the “Secret Wars,” yet characters like Ms. Marvel and Namor will continue to be present within the MCU.
RedGyarados2010: Previously, you hinted that the timeline altered by HWR eliminated the X-Men, but they are expected to reappear following a post-SW soft reset. How might this resurgence influence established mutants like Ms. Marvel and Namor?
Alex Perez: They’ll still exist.
