As a dedicated follower of Kit Harington‘s career and personal journey, I admire his bravery and honesty in sharing his struggles with alcoholism and ADHD. It takes immense courage to confront one’s demons and work towards overcoming them. I find it inspiring that he managed to get sober before welcoming children, which, as a fellow parent, I can only imagine the impact it has on their upbringing.
Kit Harington is generating buzz by signing up for the cast of Industry’s third season on HBO, where he will portray Henry Muck, a CEO of Lumi, a green tech energy firm. In a recent interview, the actor shared insights about his role in the series and his personal life as well. He discussed his road to sobriety following his admission of struggling with alcoholism in 2019 and getting diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). In a chat with GQ magazine, Kit Harington shared that he considers himself lucky for having become sober prior to starting a family with his spouse, Rose Leslie. He admitted that at one point, abstaining from alcohol appeared both physically and emotionally challenging for him.
Subsequently, Harington shared that considering his journey towards sobriety as an accomplishment in itself is a significant milestone for him. In the past, before achieving sobriety, the Game of Thrones actor used to look at himself in the mirror and deride himself with harsh words, even referring to himself as a wretched individual. He confessed that he held deep contempt towards himself and found it difficult to take pride in his professional achievements.
He stated, “Being proud of my sobriety indicates that I have truly transformed into a new individual.”
Harington stated that as soon as he walks onto the set and engages in his work, a strong feeling of pride arises because he pours “everything into it.” Previously, he often felt as though there was a heavy burden, like a big monkey, on his back that seemed to hold him back.
As a devoted admirer, I want to share that the actor known as Baby Ruby mentioned his concerns about a potential serious relapse in the future, which he can’t foresee. He voiced his hope that such an event won’t transpire. Furthermore, he emphasized that discussing his battles aids him in staying protected.
Kit Harington expressed that openly discussing his struggle with addiction is aimed at assisting others. Knowing that prominent figures who faced similar difficulties and are now content and joyful, people might realize that it’s possible to overcome their own challenges and “can hardly conceive of returning to what I would be returning to.”
Currently, the first episode of Kit Harington’s show “Industry” in its third season is now streaming on HBO Max. New episodes will be released weekly.
