As a seasoned gamer and Marvel enthusiast with over two decades of immersion into the vast Marvel universe, I find myself both excited and apprehensive about the introduction of Knull in the MCU. Having grown up reading the comics and witnessing first-hand the terrifying power this cosmic being wields, I can’t help but feel a pang of disappointment at the prospect of his powers being “toned down”.
As a die-hard Marvel enthusiast, I can’t help but share my thoughts on the chilling villain, Knull, who made an appearance in the thrilling finale of “Venom: The Last Dance”. The reaction among fans has been a mix of excitement and apprehension. While some of us are thrilled to see this terrifying character brought to life, others believe that his introduction in the last film of the trilogy might not have been the best decision.
In the movie, Knull, voiced by Andy Serkis, didn’t have a significant part. However, director Kelly Marcel clarified that this was merely an introduction for the character, hinting at his potential appearance in upcoming films.
As a gaming enthusiast, I’m pumped that Knull could show up in Spider-Man 4! However, I’m left wondering about the specifics of how they’ll portray this character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The details are still hazy.
As a die-hard Venom fan, I couldn’t help but worry that Knull might need to be scaled down significantly before the release of Venom 3, given that none of the Symbiote Saga Universe (SSU) characters possess powers on par with his formidable might.
Knull is an immensely potent cosmic entity who’s responsible for breeding symbiotes, including Venom. He wields darkness as a tool, crafting weapons and summoning creatures from it. Moreover, he possesses the ability to manipulate minds. This being is so formidable that he can overpower whole armies, vanquish deities, and confront beings of immense power such as the Celestials and Thor.
Basically, Knull is a deity, and it’s challenging to transform characters with immense power without modifying certain aspects, typically by lessening their abilities. According to insider Alex Perez, it seems probable that Knull will undergo a reduction in power for his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as well.
During a December AMA on Discord, Perez was questioned about whether powerful Avengers such as Thor, Captain Marvel, and Scarlet Witch might feature in a Knull story, considering that Knull possesses strength surpassing characters like Dr. Doom, Thanos, Kang, and even the Celestials. Perez speculated that the creators might reduce Knull’s power by suggesting he is not yet at his full potential, having recently escaped from Klyntar – the planet of symbiotes. As a result, Knull would be less powerful than his comic book portrayal.
Alex Perez: “I predict they’ll weaken Knull by stating that he’s not as potent due to recently emerging from the Symbiotes, and thus he hasn’t fully regained his full power level yet.
This action is strategic since tackling Knull often necessitates a combined force, similar to how nearly every Marvel Cinematic Universe hero was involved in Endgame.
Following the debut of Kraven the Hunter, there’s a question mark hanging over the future of the SSU, as rumors swirl that Sony might not be keen to invest further funds in struggling live-action productions.
If that’s the case, the MCU might be the only chance for Knull’s story to continue.
