As a die-hard fan of Zoë Kravitz and Big Little Lies, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming third season! It feels like an eternity since we last saw our favorite Monterey moms, but with each passing day, the anticipation builds.
Currently, Zoë Kravitz’s career is reaching new heights! With her initial directorial venture, “Blink Twice,” achieving tremendous success, and several more hits this year, she’s now looking forward to her upcoming significant project with great anticipation.
Similar to numerous HBO viewers, she’s eagerly anticipating updates about the highly anticipated third season of Big Little Lies. In her latest interview with People, Kravitz expressed that everyone is on edge, waiting to find out when the new season will take place. She also mentioned that she herself is awaiting the completion of the script.
Despite having no prior knowledge about the upcoming season, she is eager and looking forward to participating in it. It’s now five years, counting from 2024, since the second season of that gripping crime drama made its debut.
Based on earlier reports from Deadline, it appears that plans for a third season of the Emmy-winning series featuring Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Meryl Streep (in the second season), Adam Scott, and Alexander Skarsgård are still underway. Recently, Laura Dern hinted to Entertainment Weekly that the main cast is actively working on the upcoming episodes.
Furthermore, it’s worth noting that in 2023, producer Kidman also verified the upcoming third installment. In a relaxed conversation, she mentioned, “By the way, we’ve got a third one coming up for you.” Big Little Lies delves into the seemingly flawless lives of an elite group of mothers whose children attend an esteemed elementary school in a tranquil California coastal town.
The show has been widely praised by critics, with specific recognition given to its scriptwriting, direction, performances, technical aspects such as production quality, camera work, and music score. The initial season garnered a total of 16 nominations for Primetime Emmy Awards and took home eight awards.
Previously advertised as a miniseries, Jean-Marc Vallée directed the first season, with Andrea Arnold taking over for the second season. As per Nicole Kidman’s announcement in November 2023, a third season is planned. According to Esquire, although the specific plot of season 3 remains undisclosed, it is expected to continue from where season 2 ended.
In June 2024, director Kidman shared with Vanity Fair that things were moving swiftly. She pointed out that Liane Moriarty is penning the book, and they are making steady progress. However, she prefers to keep details under wraps, as discussing the project seems to offer the same fulfillment as actually completing it.
