As someone who was practically raised by the beloved characters of Ice Age, I’m beyond excited to welcome our prehistoric pals back to the big screen! With Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, and John Leguizamo returning as our favorite sloth, mammoth, and possum-like creature respectively, it feels like a family reunion that I never knew I needed.
The Ice Age is thawing and making its return! It’s been announced that the sixth installment of this popular franchise is currently being produced, as revealed at D23 Brazil on Friday. In a video appearance, cast members Ray Romano, Queen Latifah, and John Leguizamo shared the exciting news about the upcoming film. For more details about Ice Age 6, take a look below.
At the recent #D23Brasil event, it was revealed that Ice Age 6 is currently being made! ❄️ The voice talents of Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifah, Denis Leary, and Simon Pegg will reprise their roles for a brand new theatrical journey.

In the trailer for “Ice Age 6”, Ray Romano’s character Sid the Sloth is seen shivering as he struggles to share some major updates. Suddenly, Queen Latifah’s character Ellie, a beloved possum-like mammoth, admits that she has been keeping the chilly room cold on purpose. Romano excitedly declares, “Ice Age 6 is hitting theaters!” Finally, Leguizamo appears at the end, confirming that the herd is indeed returning.
Fans adore Romano for his award-winning performance as a lead actor in “Everybody Loves Raymond”. On the other hand, Leguizamo gained fame for his role as Bruno Madrigal in the animated film “Encanto”, which won an Oscar. Queen Latifah is predominantly recognized for her successful music career and has earned half of an EGOT title by winning both an Emmy and a Grammy. Therefore, we’re confident that “Ice Age” will continue to thrive under their guidance, and we anticipate that “Ice Age 6” will be its best installment yet.
According to social media updates, Denis Leary and Simon Pegg are set to return as Diego (the saber-tooth tiger) and Buck (the weasel) in the upcoming movie. Notably, Denis Leary has previously demonstrated his voice acting skills by playing Francis the Ladybug in A Bug’s Life.
Having been brought up with the Ice Age series, I’m eagerly awaiting another installment. It’s rare for me to look forward to a sequel without reservation. I can’t wait to catch up on Peaches and Julian’s adventures, and it’s an added bonus that Keke Palmer is involved. But the real inquiry is when Scrat will finally receive his due screen time, beyond just the Scrat Tales – I’m hoping for more Scrat action in Ice Age 6!
The upcoming film, titled “Ice Age 6”, will be the first installment of the series released since Disney took over Fox’s movie and TV properties. The Ice Age series kicked off back in 2002 with five main movies and several spin-offs like my beloved “Scrat Tales”. It remains to be seen how this film compares (or doesn’t) to its predecessors, given that it now falls under Disney’s ownership. As of now, the exact release date for “Ice Age 6” in 2026 is yet to be confirmed.
