‘I Will Owe Him Probably Forever’: Channing Tatum Thanks Ryan Reynolds For Reviving His Marvel Character Gambit

As a lifelong fan of comic book movies and a connoisseur of the X-Men universe, I have to say that Channing Tatum‘s heartfelt tribute to Ryan Reynolds and the success of Deadpool & Wolverine has filled me with immense joy and admiration.

Spoilers ahead for Deadpool & Wolverine!

Channing Tatum expresses his deep gratitude to Ryan Reynolds for bringing back his X-Men character, Gambit, in Deadpool and Wolverine. For four years, Tatum and producing partner Reid Carolin had been working on a solo film project for the mutant Gambit, but unfortunately, it didn’t come to life. Eventually, Tatum had the opportunity to introduce the long-developed character to audiences.

Channing Tatum shares a heartwarming post for Ryan Reynolds

1. The Gambit film, initially being produced by 20th Century Fox, was cancelled following its merger with Disney in 2019. The character eventually appeared on the big screen in Deadpool and Wolverine, and Ryan Reynolds is the one who can credit for this appearance as Fly Me To The Moon actor.

In a recent post, Tatum posted a side-by-side comparison photo of him and Reynolds taken at Comic-Con. The first picture was from close to ten years ago during Reynolds’ initial Deadpool presentation, while the second one was taken last weekend at the Deadpool & Wolverine event.

1. “I barely knew him at all in those days, but since then, there’s hardly anyone who has been more supportive to me in this field than @VancityReynolds,” the actor said. Reynolds worked hard to reclaim Gambit, a role that Tatum believed was lost for good, but he did.

1. “He’s done something incredibly meaningful for me, and I doubt I’ll ever be able to repay him fully. It’s been so significant, I can hardly imagine a way to reciprocate. By the way, I really appreciate you, pal.”

Channing Tatum praised Deadpool & Wolverine director

The actor from “Step Up” expressed high praise for Shawn Levy, the director of “Deadpool” and “Wolverine. He described Levy as a “remarkable talent” in all aspects, while also referring to the film as a “masterpiece” and a source of “unadulterated fun and boldness.”

“In the theater, I was shouting in excitement, cheering ‘Let’s Go’! The third Deadpool movie was an exhilarating journey from beginning to end. Pre-release promotions filled with wild marketing stunts and hints of shocking twists fueled immense anticipation. And the film did not disappoint.”

Instead of Tatum, the cast featured Chris Evans portraying the Human Torch from Fantastic Four, Dafne Keen as Laura Howlett (X-23), Jennifer Garner reprising her role as Elektra, Henry Cavill stepping into Wolverine’s claws, and Wesley Snipes bringing Blade to life. Noteworthy contributions came from Blake Lively and Matthew McConaughey, who provided voices for Lady Deadpool and Cowboy Deadpool respectively.

Deadpool & Wolverine is currently in theaters!
