As a devoted fan who has followed Eva Mendes’ journey from the silver screen to the world of children’s literature, I must say her recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon was nothing short of enchanting. Her infectious enthusiasm and candid stories about her life, including her experiences with Saturday Night Live and her Cuban roots, made me feel like I was sitting across from a close friend.
Eva Mendes recently discussed her debut children’s book, “Desi Mami and Her Never-Ending Worries,” which centers around a young girl and her anxious thoughts, on Jimmy Fallon’s show, The Tonight Show, on September 18th. Throughout their chat, Fallon inquired about her husband Ryan Gosling‘s lively SNL performance from the previous weekend.
She reminisced about the moment, “I was simply thrilled! I was behind the scenes…it’s astonishing,” she said, recalling her experience as the actress from Beyond the Pines. She further shared some of her favorite skits, including Can’t Tonight, where she portrayed a Cuban character, and the popular one, Beavis and Butt-Head.
In an interesting twist, Mendes shared that it was amusing because her father, contrary to popular belief, doesn’t speak English fluently. As a result, when Ryan Gosling and her dad interact, their conversations are limited to just a few words in English. To mimic this, Mendes humorously portrayed their interactions in a Spanish accent. She concluded by saying, “After 12 years, it finally proved beneficial.
Following the SNL episode starring host Gosling, a Miami-born actress of Cuban descent expressed her appreciation on social media for her Cuban father, who made her incredibly joyful with the skit that celebrated her heritage. She also acknowledged cast members Marcello Hernandez and Kenan Thompson, who portrayed Gosling’s friends in the sketch. “I’m excited for the next time this trio gets together,” she concluded.
This high-profile duo ignited a romantic connection on the set of “The Place Beyond the Pines” back in 2012, leading them to share two lovely daughters – Esmeralda Amada (9 years old) and Amada Lee (7 years old), during their 12-year long courtship. Although they have been notoriously private about their relationship, they’ve cleverly hinted at their support for each other in more discreet ways.
