‘I was like No…’ – Joaquin Phoenix Included THIS Suggestion By Lady Gaga For Musicals In Joker: Folie à Deux

In a daring departure from its predecessor, the follow-up to the 2019 hit movie “Joker” delves into the realm of musicals. Titled “Joker: Madness Duet,” this sequel continues where the original film left off, with protagonists Arthur Fleck (portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix) and Harleen Quinzel (played by Lady Gaga) expressing their inner turmoil through the medium of music

In an interview with IndieWire, Lady Gaga (Stefani Germanotta) shared that music takes center stage in the sequel, offering characters avenues of self-expression beyond what simple conversation can convey. Instead of relying on her formal singing education, Gaga deliberately chose to discard her musical training and abandon her polished skills in order to deliver a raw and authentic performance. In her words, “It was more about unlearning technique, forgetting correct breathing methods, and allowing the song to come purely from the character.”

Joker: Folie à Deux premieres in theaters on October 4.
