As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for the journeys of successful individuals, I find Hoda Kotb’s decision to step down from the Today Show at the pinnacle of her career both inspiring and thought-provoking. Having spent nearly two decades at NBC, she has undoubtedly etched her name in broadcasting history. Yet, it is her decision to prioritize family over professional success that resonates most profoundly with me.
In a recent episode of NBC’s show, Hoda Kotb frankly discussed her choice to temporarily leave the Today Show. During her chat with Jimmy Fallon on his program, she shared that she made the decision to step away from her role when she was already thriving at it.
Instead of choosing to stay on her shared show with Savannah Guthrie, Jenna Bush, and Al Roker, the journalist decided to depart from it only a few short days following her 60th birthday.
During a chat with Fallon, the TV personality revealed that she felt an intuitive pull to spend time with her family. She explained, “When I turned 60, something strange transpired. I turned 60, and we had this splendid party at the Today show. Looking out at the multitude of people who came, along with beautiful signs and countless well-wishes, I felt in my heart that it was time, buddy.
Moreover, she commented, “It’s as if standing atop a mountain is what I’ve never experienced before.” Kotb likewise disclosed her busy routine, stating that she often rises as early as 3 a.m. to film for the program.
She went on to explain that she has followed the same schedule for almost 17 years.
Journalist Kotb shared that she has been associated with NBC for nearly 26 years, which is her longest professional relationship. In conversation with Fallon, she spoke about a discussion with her daughters, saying, “I told them I could take them to school soon, and they exclaimed, ‘Wednesday?’ To which I replied, ‘No, not Wednesday.’ ‘Next week?’ I responded, ‘No, not next week. Somewhere around January or February.’ She then added, “They reacted as if it’s forever for them.
Kotb expressed her desire to be present for her children as they mature and navigate through various life stages. Although she’s not entirely departing from the network, she plans to devote more time to her family.
The journalist expressed, “I can sense it instinctively when they develop. It’s as if I thought, They require a bit more of my involvement, and I need more of theirs too. So, I believe everything will turn out wonderfully. However, I’ll still be engaged with NBC; I’ll remain part of the family.
On the 26th of September during an episode of the Today Show, Hoda Kotb informed about her decision to leave by penning a letter addressed to the NBC network.
