As a compassionate observer of events unfolding between Kehlani and Javaughn Young-White, I find myself deeply moved by their commitment to their child, Adeya. Their journey as parents is undeniably complex, fraught with misunderstandings, misrepresentations, and personal struggles.
As a devoted follower, I’d like to clarify my position regarding some recent misrepresentations about me. You might know me as Javaughn Young-White, the guitarist, and ex of Kehlani, and father of our beautiful 5-year-old girl, Adeya. I want to make it clear that the July 24 custody filing was submitted without my consent by my previous legal team. I took to Instagram to share this information with everyone.
According to Young-White, the documents submitted included broad notes from our first meeting that he wasn’t comfortable with using. He wishes they hadn’t been added.
Additionally, Young-White asserts that he was deceived about incidents related to the Regla de Ocha religion, where Kehlani had been a part. He explains that certain individuals, motivated by their own interests, provided him with misleading information concerning Church leader, Priest Neto. Initially, he was not aware that these people were using accusations to intensify their internal church conflicts and they no longer uphold those allegations.
Young-White regrets custody filing, focuses on daughter’s well-being
Young-White shares that upon hearing the accusations against Neto and his church, though his daughter was no longer associated, he remained greatly worried for her wellbeing. He felt a sense of caution, as if alerted to possible choices that might lead to significant harm.
As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but share Young-White’s perspective on Kehlani and Adeya’s church involvement. He passionately advocated for his daughter’s wellbeing, just as any concerned parent would during a significant life transition. Yet, he felt utterly powerless due to recurring complications with his custody rights and paperwork, expressing frustration at being overlooked. He even asserted that his previous legal advisor submitted the custody filing without his consent.
Young-White clarifies that the language used in the account was not endorsed by him. He underscores that his attention towards custody and documentation matters is primarily influenced by other concerns. As a parent, he never anticipated such grave accusations to be dealt with negligently. While he thinks his initial response was justified given the information at hand, he expresses regret for any part he may have played in propagating these allegations and offers an apology. He wishes for justice for Priest Neto, his family, and all those affected.
1. In a nutshell, he speaks about the people who regularly attend the place of worship. At the end, he reiterates his vow to fight for the welfare of his child.
Young-White Denies false claims; Kehlani reaffirms child’s safety
Young-White’s previous counsel did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
In a more current explanation, Young-White has clarified the remarks posted on Instagram on the 6th of August, which were later repeated by Kehlani. He firmly declared that he never stated Santería is a cult centered around sex or implied his daughter is associated with such activities. Instead, he labeled these assertions as inaccurate and offensive.
Additionally, he mentioned that it isn’t necessary for him to present his co-parent in a negative light for his concerns to be taken seriously by the court, and that any additional trauma only complicates the task of safeguarding their child’s welfare.
In a recent turn of events, the 29-year-old singer, identifying as both she and they, reposted Young-White’s Instagram comments. On the very same day, Kehlani published a statement refuting accusations that she put her child in danger or left her with an unsafe individual. Furthermore, she strongly denied allegations leveled against her previous religious group.
Kehlani has consistently made her child’s safety and welfare her top priority. She underscores that motherhood is her main concern and will continue to be so. Regarding the current situation, she considers it a personal, family matter of a legal nature, and is taking time for both her own health and that of her child.
