‘I Made This Guy Famous’: Anthony Mackie Claims To Have Made Ryan Gosling Popular; Says THIS

As an ardent fan of both Anthony Mackie and Ryan Gosling, I find myself utterly fascinated by their dynamic camaraderie and the significant role they’ve played in each other’s careers. While it’s intriguing to hear Mackie claim responsibility for Gosling’s rise to fame, I can’t help but chuckle at the idea of a single movie, Half Nelson, being the sole catalyst. After all, Gosling had already made a name for himself with movies like The Notebook and Remember the Titans before their 2006 collaboration.

Anthony Mackie and Ryan Gosling are two well-known figures in the world of Hollywood. Although they’ve collaborated previously, Mackie humorously suggested that he played a role in boosting Gosling’s fame.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the actor acknowledged that he helped make the Canadian native more well-known by collaborating with him in the 2006 film “Half Nelson.” In a video segment of the interview, Mackie was presented with pictures of different celebrities and asked to explain the roles he played opposite each actor.

As the video continued, an image of Ryan Gosling emerged, and the actor then exclaimed, “I helped make him a household name.” He later disclosed that they shared their first screen appearance together in the 2006 film.

He went on to say, “We did his first movie together. Nobody cares? That was a good memory.” As for Half Nelson, Gosling played the role of a middle school teacher who is dealing with drug problems. Mackie played the character of Frank, a friend of the lead.

Although some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe actor’s statements could hold some truth, it’s important to note that the actor from “The Fall Guy” had previously taken on leading roles in significant films such as “The Notebook,” which came out in 2004, and “Remember the Titans,” where he appeared alongside Denzel Washington. This suggests a more established career prior to their work in these respective universes.

Regarding Half Nelson’s impact on Ryan Gosling’s career, it was shared by the man behind Captain America that this film marked the breakthrough for the Canadian-born actor in terms of receiving his initial significant critical acclaim, and also earned him his first ever Oscar nomination.

Moving on, when Mackie spotted his Half Nelson poster, he remarked, “I helped a lot of guys become well-known.” He also shared an amusing incident from the film set. Anthony said, “A stray cat showed up – we didn’t know where it originated, didn’t investigate its background, and didn’t neuter it. The question was, ‘Where did this cat come from?’ Ryan picked up the cat, stroked it, and began to rub it.

Reflecting on the event, Mackie shared, “That cat was vicious, almost like a stray. It reminded me of the monster in Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ video, the way it moved. Let me tell you, he grabbed that thing! He grabbed that thing! That kid is wild, I’m telling you the truth. Just ask him yourself.

In terms of his professional endeavors, Anthony Mackie is gearing up for another appearance on the silver screen, this time as Sam Wilson in Captain America: A New World. The film is scheduled to premiere in cinemas in the year 2025.
