The revamped or perhaps better termed “requel” for the latest horror series is none other than I Know What You Did Last Summer. This movie, with its catchy title, originally starred some of the biggest names from the ’90s, including Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Freddie Prinze, Jr. The upcoming version, creatively named I Know What You Did Last Summer, will see Hewitt and Prinze, Jr. rejoining the cast along with a new group of teenagers. Although we understand that Gellar won’t be returning as Helen since she perished in the storyline, there’s still speculation about Brandy Norwood reprising her role as Karla.
In a chat with People magazine, the movie’s director, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, hinted that we might get another appearance from the character, Karla.
As a cinephile, I can’t help but speculate about Brandy’s potential involvement in I Know What You Did Last Summer. While it seems she might not be a central figure, there’s a good chance we could catch a glimpse of her in a brief cameo. Perhaps she exchanges words over the phone with Julie or pops up towards the end of the movie. Since Julie resides in North Carolina these days, it’s rather improbable that Karla is a neighbor. This setup seems to be a clever way to bring Brandy on and off the set without the risk of any unauthorized photos surfacing.
Brandi Norwood has mentioned before that she’s been approached to reprise her role as Karla in “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” but hasn’t confirmed anything further. Typically, if someone isn’t involved in a project, they would simply state so and move on. Thus, we’re hoping this implies there will be more of the character Karla, and we certainly don’t want her to meet an untimely end.
