As a dedicated follower and ardent admirer of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is nothing short of exhilarating to witness my beloved superheroes joining forces off-screen to support a cause that transcends their fictional world: the 2024 US elections. The Avengers’ reunion video, filled with humor and witty references to their iconic characters, has left me in stitches.
The cast of The Avengers got together again to back Kamala Harris in the upcoming U.S. elections, and they developed a promotional campaign in the classic style of the Avengers. In a video posted by Vanity Fair, actors Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Don Cheadle, Chris Evans, Danai Gurira, and Paul Bettany humorously incorporated references to their Marvel Cinematic Universe characters while concocting a “catchphrase” for the Democratic presidential nominee.
The video opens showing the cast receiving a call from Johansson, after which there’s some humorous banter. Downey then proposes they come up with a catchphrase, prompting skeptical ideas from the group. When Evans suggests “I can do this all day” – a line associated with his Marvel character Captain America – the rest of the cast express their irritation.
In a playful manner, the Oppenheimer star exclaims “Quiet!” and Evans retreats. As they follow suit, everyone begins to propose ideas in harmony with their characters. Gurira proposes “Kamala Forever,” reminiscent of a famous line from Black Panther. They tentatively agree on Cheadle’s slogan “Long Live Democracy.
When Ruffalo jokingly remarks that it’s not turning out as they planned, the Black Widow actress insists on feedback from production, and at this point, the music for the Avengers begins to play in the background. “Could you please stop the heroic music,” the actor from Poor Things added humorously.
Apart from initially posting the video on Twitter, he additionally re-shared it with the following caption: “Don’t miss out on this one – it’s the one that could have significant consequences: Project 2025.” Delving further into the project, Ruffalo highlighted issues such as women’s reproductive rights, climate change, LGBTQIA+ rights, public education, student debt relief, Affordable Care Act, Social Security, and currently, the importance of life-saving vaccines. He ended his message by emphasizing, “These matters are very real, and they will impact you directly.
Recently, Harris concluded a campaign event in Houston, Texas, which featured an appearance by Beyoncé endorsing the candidate. In her speech, Beyoncé discussed topics crucial to the upcoming generation and emphasized the importance of casting votes to bring about the essential changes our society needs.
I’m thrilled to share that esteemed figures such as Bruce Springsteen, Oprah Winfrey, Madonna, Bad Bunny, Ricky Martin, LeBron James, and even the former Republican governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger, have openly expressed their backing for me. This endorsement from these influential individuals is truly humbling and inspires me to continue my journey with renewed vigor.
