‘I Am Heartbroken’: Rupert Grint Remembers Harry Potter Costar Dame Maggie Smith In Heartfelt Tribute After Her Passing

As a devoted fan of the magical world that Harry Potter has woven, I find myself deeply saddened by the passing of Dame Maggie Smith. She was more than just a talented actress; she was the heart and soul of Hogwarts, embodying the stern yet loving spirit of Professor Minerva McGonagall.

It was startling news when it became known that Dame Maggie Smith had sadly passed away recently. The actress, who was 89 years old, has been mourned in a torrent of tributes on the internet by her fellow actors, other celebrities, and devoted fans alike.

In that setting stepped Rupert Grint, famously known for his role as Ron Weasley in the enchanting world of the Harry Potter films. On various platforms of social media, this distinguished actor reminisced about the kindness displayed by the esteemed Dame Maggie Smith, off-screen.

Grint further went on to add that he was lucky to have an opportunity to work with Maggie Smith, and “particularly lucky to have shared a dance.”

In the movie, the actor mentioned the era in the life of his character, Ron Weasley, which encompassed classic and comedy moments, when Professor Minerva McGonagall asked him to rehearse together for the Yule Ball event.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but reflect on the impact Maggie Smith had as Professor McGonagall, the esteemed head of Gryffindor House and deputy headmistress at Hogwarts under Albus Dumbledore in the magical series. In the wake of her passing, her fellow cast members, too, shared heartfelt messages, paying tribute to her remarkable talent and unforgettable character.

Actor Daniel Radcliffe, widely recognized as Harry Potter, recently reminisced on social media platform X about his initial encounter with Maggie Smith on the set of the television miniseries David Copperfield way back in 1999.

Additionally, he remembered that as his parents were overjoyed at the prospect of their son appearing alongside Smith, “one of the first things I said to her when we met was ‘may I address you as Dame?'” he reminisced.

She retorted, “That’s preposterous!” Similarly, during the filming of David Copperfield, the actor from Now You See Me 2 mentioned that Maggie Smith was incredibly considerate towards him.

Additionally, it’s worth noting that Emma Watson, known for portraying Hermione Granger in the magical realm, shared on her Instagram Stories that she wasn’t aware of how legendary Maggie Smith truly was during her younger years.

Besides mentioning her good fortune, Watson expressed gratitude for collaborating on-screen with the late actress. She admires the experience of working with an embodiment of greatness.
