‘I Also Think It’s…’: Nick Jonas Reacts To Camp Rock Videos Going Viral On Social Media

As a dedicated follower of Nick Jonas‘s career since his Disney Channel days, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia as I watch the viral clips of Camp Rock on social media platforms like TikTok. It’s fascinating to see how these moments that were once cherished by teenagers like myself have become iconic and continue to inspire new generations.

Lately, it seems like the 2008 Disney Channel film Camp Rock, starring the Jonas Brothers along with Demi Lovato as up-and-coming musicians, is gaining renewed attention on social media. This classic movie has been rediscovered by a fresh wave of fans online, and scenes from the movie have become particularly popular, such as the one where Lovato’s character directs a synchronized marching formation with dancing, clapping, and stomping, which have even gone viral.

As a lifestyle expert speaking from personal experience, I must admit, I find it fascinating to see the enduring popularity of the movie I was part of, now reaching new heights on social media platforms like TikTok. It’s amazing to witness the impact this film has had and continues to have, something I hadn’t anticipated when we were making it. Laughing a little to myself, I can’t help but find it amusing, especially when I see clips from one of the most iconic scenes going viral – that ‘stomp moment’. Yes, I remember thinking while we were filming, “This is really strange,” but looking back now, I can’t help but find it hilarious too.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it like this: Ever since my breakthrough roles in Camp Rock and Hannah Montana back in 2007, my acting journey has been nothing short of transformative. Now, in theaters, you can witness my evolution as an artist in The Good Half. In this film, I step into the shoes of Renn Wheeland, a writer who finds himself back in Cleveland for his mother’s funeral. This role offers a glimpse into my developing dramatic skills, underscoring my growth as an actor.

Alexandra Shipp, who portrays Jonas’s romantic interest in The Good Half, also chimed in on the popular Camp Rock scene. She called it “incredible” and shared how the film sparked her imagination as a young viewer. “I vividly remember thinking, ‘I really want to attend that music camp!'” she reminisced. Yet, she humorously pointed out some of the movie’s peculiarities, such as characters carrying drumsticks around, which she found both fascinating and somewhat illogical. “It all seemed rather nonsensical,” Shipp admitted.

Jonas commented on the puzzling elements of the movie, saying they found it was something one just “sort of rolls with” and accepts as not having to make perfect sense. He pointed out that although the original audience were teenagers who might have been less concerned about the film’s quirks, those same fans are now older and re-examining the movie with a more discerning eye. Essentially, he compared it to anyone going back and watching old home videos from high school or college. For them, it’s private, but for us, it’s very public.

In the 2010 follow-up film Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, the Jonas Brothers returned as the band Connect 3, with Demi Lovato also appearing. Nick Jonas has since pursued an acting career further, set to appear in Power Ballad alongside Paul Rudd, You’re Cordially Invited starring Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell, and on Broadway in The Last Five Years opposite Adrienne Warren. Alexandra Shipp is slated for roles in Violent Ends, Kung Fury 2, and Midnight.
