Hulu Officially Greenlights The Handmaid’s Tale Sequel The Testaments

It’s been confirmed that “The Testaments,” the sequel to “The Handmaid’s Tale,” is now in development. Filming will start on April 7, focusing on a series adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s 2019 novel. The narrative unfolds 15 years after “The Handmaid’s Tale” and centers around a new group of young women navigating life under Gilead’s rigid and oppressive regime.

Elisabeth Moss, famously known for her role as June Osbourne in “The Handmaid’s Tale,” is set to serve as an executive producer and potentially make guest appearances. However, whether she will reprise her role hinges on the ending of the series in its final season, which starts airing on April 8.

The principal actors are Chase Infiniti portraying Agnes, Lucy Halliday as Daisy, and Ann Dowd returning as Aunt Lydia. Additionally, we welcome newcomers Mabel Li, Amy Seimetz, Brad Alexander, Zarrin Darnell-Martin, Eva Foote, Isolde Ardies, Shechinah Mpumlwana, Birva Pandya, and Kira Guloien to the cast.

Characters like stern aunts, young females grappling with the regulations of Gilead, and a nurturing Martha providing assistance and advice will be portrayed by them.

In this setup, Bruce Miller takes on the roles of both showrunner and executive producer, working alongside Warren Littlefield, Moss, and other colleagues. Mike Barker is in charge of directing the opening three episodes, while MGM Television is responsible for the production of the entire series.

Enthusiasts of “The Handmaid’s Tale” have something exciting to anticipate as the story unfolds, delving into the struggles of young women in Gilead as they strive for their future and liberation.
