Hugh Jackman Says If Deadpool & Wolverine Had Been Just Deadpool 3 He ‘Would Have Been Upset’

As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for the world of cinema and acting, I can only imagine how Hugh Jackman would have felt if Deadpool 3 was just about the Merc with a Mouth and not the epic team-up between Deadpool and Wolverine. Jackman’s emotional attachment to the role of Wolverine is well-documented, and it’s clear that he deeply desired to reprise his iconic character in one final hurrah.

An intriguing adventure awaits with Deadpool and Wolverine. With Ryan Reynolds once again bringing his witty Deadpool to life and Hugh Jackman’s iconic Wolverine seemingly resurrected, fans of these anti-heroes are eagerly anticipating the release. However, imagine if circumstances had led Reynolds to pursue a different approach for the film, focusing solely on Deadpool?

As a devoted fan and avid admirer of my acting craft, I’m thrilled to share my deep-rooted emotions connected to the cherished role I’ve had the privilege of bringing to life – both on the set of “Bad Education” and more recently in the latest Marvel film production.

How would Hugh Jackman feel if the movie was just Deadpool 3?

As a dedicated fan, I can tell you that planning for Deadpool and Wolverine wasn’t a walk in the park for me or director Shawn Levy. Initially, we faced quite the challenge trying to formulate a compelling pitch that would win over Marvel Studios CEO, Kevin Feige.

After Disney’s takeover of 21st Century Fox in 2019, plans were underway for Deadpool’s third movie. But then, unexpectedly, Hugh Jackman reached out. According to sources, Jackman contacted the Free Guy star to ask him if he had begun filming for the upcoming Deadpool installment.

After learning about this development, Jackman was queried by MTV News during an interview about his feelings if Reynolds and Levy had chosen a different approach instead. In response, Jackman expressed, “I would have been disappointed.”

The actor expressed his strong desire to take on the role and shared that it would have deeply saddened him, potentially causing tears. In a lighter moment, Jackman quipped, “I might have severed our friendship and contested for his children’s custody instead.”

Ryan Reynolds convinces Kevin Feige

In the very same interview, Ryan Reynolds shared that he crossed paths with Kevin Feige six years prior, expressing his desire to create a film featuring both Wolverine and Deadpool. At that point though, Feige remained unconvinced.

Hugh Jackman once contacted Reynolds, and Reynolds shared that he and Shawn Levy were preparing to present their last proposal to Feige. If this proposal didn’t persuade Feige, they planned to abandon the Deadpool-MCU blueprint altogether. (Simpler: Reynolds mentioned that he and Shawn Levy were about to make a final pitch to Feige regarding Deadpool in the MCU. If it wasn’t convincing enough, they planned to let go of the idea.)

When Reynolds received a call from Jackman, they shared exciting news with Marvel Studios’ CEO, Kevin Feige. Overjoyed, they reported that something wonderful had occurred, and Feige responded with an immediate approval.

Deadpool & Wolverine will be released in theaters this Friday.
