Hugh Jackman Goes All-In During DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE ADR Session

As a long-time fan of Hugh Jackman and his iconic portrayal of Wolverine, I can confidently say that watching him work during ADR sessions is nothing short of mesmerizing. For over two decades, he has breathed life into the character, making each growl, grunt, and curse feel authentic and raw.

In movie production, particularly action films bursting with fist fights and an assortment of pain-filled yells from various acts of violence, ADR (Additional or Automatic Dialogue Recording) plays a crucial role. No actor has etched iconic memories into the annals of ADR for action scenes quite like Hugh Jackman, whose intense performances as Wolverine over the past two decades have been widely shared online. To put it simply, Hugh throws himself into these recordings. Recently, Hugh Jackman further cemented his ADR legacy in a new backstage video posted by director Shawn Levy from their latest collaboration on Deadpool and Wolverine. You can check out this fascinating glimpse behind the scenes right here:

For quite some time now, just like many others, I’ve found myself captivated by the ADR videos from Hugh Jackman’s “Logan”. Today, I’m thrilled to present another piece in this ongoing series showcasing his legendary talent. So go ahead and crank up the volume!

Between occasional growls and moans, a well-placed profanity slips in. You might recall that the early X-Men films Jackman starred in were rated PG-13, so there wasn’t much room for swear words, let alone that specific one. However, in X-Men: First Class, he did get to tell Charles Xavier and Magneto to “Go to hell,” but it was in Logan where he truly cut loose, marking his first R-rated role as Wolverine. With Deadpool & Wolverine, Jackman gets to let loose with a sailor’s vocabulary. After all, if Logan is 200 years old, he must have been a sailor at some point in his life, right?

In essence, Hugh Jackman has consistently given his all to the character of Logan, a fact evident even after more than two decades of portraying him. It’s no wonder that he’s the only one who’s played this role in live-action, with the exception of Troye Sivan who played young Logan in X-Men: Origins Wolverine back in 2009. Interestingly, Troye Sivan is an Australian pop star. When Jackman eventually decides to hang up the claws for good, finding a replacement for him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be quite a challenge, requiring someone truly exceptional.
