Hugh Grant doesn’t appear to shy away from chuckling about his past, including movies he isn’t particularly fond of like his debut major US film, Nine Months (1995). Recently, the 64-year-old actor openly discussed this movie in an interview, criticizing his own acting.
Jokingly, he confessed using parental restrictions to prevent his wife, Anna Eberstein, from viewing a film directed by Chris Columbus. Even with an impressive cast including Julianne Moore, Robin Williams, and Jeff Goldblum, he humorously referred to himself as the ‘weakest’ link.
In a different tone, he emphasized, “I’d like to highlight that all those associated with that movie, except for myself, were exceptional and gifted. It seems I was the one who fell short.
Grant mentioned, “My wife is keen on watching it, but I’ve denied her access. I’ve set up restrictions on the device to prevent it from being accessed.
The actor from Four Weddings and a Funeral expressed remorse for his acting in the film Nine Months, acknowledging that creating romantic comedies can be extremely challenging. However, he also mentioned his gratitude towards the successful ones he was part of.
Reflecting on some of his most renowned films, including Love Actually and Notting Hill, Hugh Grant paid tribute to writer Richard Curtis for adding depth and emotional intensity that he believes elevates these movies beyond their time. Lately, Grant has taken on roles that are darker and more unique, such as those in Wonka, Heretic, and others.
