Marvel’s upcoming animated show titled “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” will debut its initial two episodes on January 29th. This series features the return of Hudson Thames, who previously lent his voice to Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Season 1 of “What If…?”.
After making his debut with Marvel, Thames hasn’t taken on many acting roles since then, but was featured in just one episode of CBS’s Ghosts. However, he’s now reprising his role as the Spider-Man character in a new interpretation of the Spider-Man storyline.
In a chat with Collider, Thames shared his thoughts on portraying Spider-Man amidst the arrival of fresh characters such as Norman Osborn and Lonnie Lincoln. He expressed that he found it fantastic. To be frank, his main concern was that it might turn out to be bothersome and overly progressive, but that wasn’t the case. Instead, he was delighted because it was so well-written and felt authentic, as if it were real life.
He also mentioned that the depiction of high school life in the show seemed genuine to him, given his background as the eldest of five brothers. “I think I have a sense of what’s going on in their lives and what high school is like, and it seems like they’re accurately portraying it.
As your friendly neighborhood web-slinger, I strive to portray a vibrant tapestry of New York City’s rich and varied cultural landscapes. In an interview, showrunner Jeff Trammell highlighted our commitment to highlighting the city’s myriad cultures.
The series features both established and fresh personalities from the Marvel universe, enriching the narrative with diverse backstories and viewpoints.
The announcement of Colman Domingo playing Norman Osborn has ignited debates online, as Domingo encounters racial criticism. Since the comic book version of Osborn doesn’t specify a particular ethnicity, Domingo’s casting brings a new perspective to the character.
Apart from Thames and Domingo, the series boasts an impressive roster of voice talents. Charlie Cox is set to reprise his role as Daredevil, although the details about how extensive his part will be remain undisclosed.
As your trusted guide in the realm of pop culture, I’m thrilled to share some exciting casting updates! Hugh Dancy will lend his voice to the character Otto Octavius, while Kari Wahlgren will bring Aunt May to life on screen. Eugene Byrd steps into the role of Lonnie Lincoln, and Zeno Robinson will voice Harry Osborn. Lastly, Vincent D’Onofrio reprises his iconic role as the menacing Kingpin in this upcoming production.
Starting January 29, catch the debut of the initial two episodes of “Your Familiar Local Spiderman” on Disney+. Keep an eye out for further information and updates about this exciting series!
