Huda Beauty has cut ties with Huda Mustafa, a contestant on Season 7 of “Love Island USA,” after she was involved in a racism scandal.
On October 31st, the cosmetics brand released a statement on Instagram explaining that someone they recently worked with had acted in a way that went against the company’s principles.
The issue started when a video from a livestream by Mustafa and her boyfriend, Louis Russell (both known from Netflix’s “Too Hot To Handle” and “Perfect Match”), quickly spread online. During the livestream, someone called in and used a racist slur directed at Olandria Carthen, a fellow contestant on “Love Island” and a model.
A video from TMZ showed the two of them looking surprised and laughing as they ended their phone call, with Russell exclaiming, “Whoa, hey, hey.”

Huda Beauty released a statement expressing their disappointment with Huda Mustafa’s recent livestream. They strongly condemn all forms of racism and, while they don’t think the incident reflects who she is as a person, they were very disturbed by what happened.
The brand announced it was ending its partnership and would take down any related materials from social media and stores. In a statement, the company emphasized the importance of taking responsibility and expressed hope that this situation would lead to positive change.
On October 29th, Carthen publicly denounced the harmful language used during the livestream on Instagram. She explained that such words inflict deep, historical pain and ignoring that fact only perpetuates the problem. Carthen made it clear she condemns racism in all forms – whether expressed in anger, as a joke, or otherwise – and stressed the importance of taking responsibility and raising awareness. She announced she would be donating to organizations that support the Black community, such as UNCF, the NAACP, and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, and encouraged others to do the same.

This isn’t the first time Carthen has been unhappy with Mustafa. Back in August, during the Season 7 reunion, Carthen called out Mustafa for not speaking up about racist comments made by some of her fans towards both Carthen and fellow cast member Chelley Bissainthe. Mustafa first offered a short apology, but later posted a more detailed statement admitting she hadn’t fully taken responsibility for the situation.
Mustafa wrote, “Olandria, I now realize that comment was directed at you, and I’m sorry for how I initially responded. I was surprised in the moment, and my reaction wasn’t because I thought it was funny. It was just a nervous and uncomfortable response that I understand was wrong.”
She stated she has no tolerance for racist language and plans to donate to the NAACP, encouraging others to do the same.
This situation brings up important discussions about responsibility and racism in the worlds of entertainment and online platforms. It demonstrates a growing trend of public figures and companies being held accountable for what they do and the kind of online spaces they foster.
