HoYoverse reveals Skirk for Genshin Impact 5.7

At last, This character will make their debut in Genshin Impact during Version 5.7. As depicted in the reveal art, Skirk appears to specialize in dealing Cryo damage and is expected to wield a sword, although this may be subject to change based on the accuracy of the artwork.

Regarding the depiction of Skirk in her reveal artwork: It’s quite dim, reminiscent of how Natlan’s characters received a brighter and more colorful version of typical announcement posters. In contrast, Skirk’s image seems to have been designed with a dark mode setting — possibly to emphasize her connection to the Abyss.

In the game, Skirk hasn’t shown up much beyond a stunning entrance during the Fontaine Archon Quest finale. However, what we do know is that she’s been battling in the Abyss for years under the tutelage of her master, Surtalogi the Foul, one of the original sinners from the destroyed nation of Khaenri’ah. Interestingly, Skirk serves as the mentor to Fatui Harbinger Tartaglia, more commonly recognized as Childe.

Skirk seems to be the initial character who can be controlled, other than the Traveler, and hails from a world outside of Teyvat. Previous clues have suggested this, but a definitive one is that her introduction doesn’t explicitly state that her Cryo powers stem from a Vision. Instead, it describes her as “The Seven-Shifting Serpent: Cryo” – whatever that might imply.

A tale connected with her proclamation narrates the account of Surtalogi rescuing Skirk following the destruction of Khaenri’ah, and subsequently, Skirk saving Tartaglia at a later time.

Stars glisten high in their shrouded celestial realms, while the abyss lurks deep beneath in its mysterious underworld depths. No one knows what secrets hide in either the starry heights or the dark depths. As an old Khaenri’ahn prophecy foretells: ‘Exploring the universe and venturing into the abyss are the same—exploring the unknown darkness.’ After the fall of the subterranean civilization, on a barren patch of land long forgotten, a man who rejected fate rescued a young girl from her destiny. When she grew up, she too saved a child bound by destiny. It would be wonderful if happiness could define everything, if all stories could end happily… But the path ahead is unclear, and the sights beyond remain unknown.
