In the upcoming update, Version 6.1 of Genshin Impact, a new playable character named Nefer will make her appearance. Initially introduced as an NPC in the game during Luna I, it’s clear that she will now be using the Dendro element in combat.
In the narrative, Nefer is introduced as the proprietor of the Curatorium of Secrets in Nasha Town. She maintains an impartial stance among the various factions of Nod-Krai and predominantly deals in information and favors. However, it seems her establishment isn’t shy about accepting unusual tasks – when we first encounter Jahoda, one of Nefer’s aides, she has just returned from finding a missing cat.
Well, being a feline enthusiast like me, it’s quite clear that Nefer’s affection for cats runs deep, as evidenced by the grandiose cat tree gracing her office. Perhaps she decided to take on this project out of her own love and devotion towards her furry companions.
Nefer’s Star Configuration bears the title Ludus Latrunculorum, a name that refers to an old Roman strategy-focused board game whose specific gameplay we currently lack sufficient details to replicate accurately.
It seems that Lauma, who is quite familiar with Nefer, mentions an interesting observation about her. He says that sometimes he even communicates with snakes, and they’ve shared with him that even the coldest-hearted among them strive to find the perfect resting spot on a tree branch. Given the abundance of trees in Nod-Krai, this certainly seems achievable for every snake to claim their own special nook.
Nefer’s image and identity are strongly linked with snakes and cats, a fitting representation given her origins in the ancient land of Sumeru and her design that draws inspiration from Egypt’s rich history.
Genshin Impact Luna II is set to be released towards the end of October 2025.
