Ellen Joe becomes the inaugural Zenless Zone Zero character to undergo enhancements, aiming to boost her competitiveness. The creators at HoYoverse have unveiled the specifics of the update bundle set to debut alongside ZZZ 2.0 on June 6, 2025.
In short, Ellen will receive the following changes to her kit:
- New move – Basic Attack: Icy Blade
- New move – Basic Attack: Glacial Blade Wave
- Buffed move – Dash Attack: Arctic Ambush
- Buffed ability – Core Passive: Sharp-Toothed
- Buffed ability – Teamwork Ability: Rising Storm
In simple terms, the Primary Cleaner from Victoria Housekeeping will be equipped with extra Basic Attacks. This addition aims to make ordinary combo attacks more powerful and smoother when transitioning to other movements.
3rd Hit Enhancement: Icy Slice is activated during the third strike of Basic Attack: Flash Freeze Trimming, EX Special Attack: Sharknami, Evasive Counter: Reef Rock, and Assist Follow-up. Icy Slice deals multiple instances of Ice Damage to all surrounding foes, with larger targets like Medium and Large enemies receiving extra Ice Damage. Upon performing this attack, Ellen gains Quick Charge, shortening the charge time for Dash Attack: Arctic Ambush.
Ellen can execute a special move called Glacial Blade Wave following the third strike of Flash Freeze Trimming, Arctic Ambush’s Scissor Strike, Reef Rock Dodge Counter, or Quick Assist, provided she has at least two Flash Freeze Charges. To initiate this attack, simply press Basic Attack. This move depletes two Flash Freeze Charges and inflicts Ice Damage, then transitions into the third hit of her basic attack.
In the game Dash Attack: Arctic Ambush, charging Ellen’s move will become less challenging because if she gets hit while charging, the damage is disregarded, allowing her to complete the charge on the spot instead.
The Core Passive of this character is also receiving an update, enabling it to work with Chain Assaults, Final Blows, and her freshly introduced Basic Attacks. Additionally, her Teamwork Ability can now be triggered by Stun Agents, alongside Ice Damage Agents and Victoria Housekeeping Agents, thus enhancing her team composition options.
Players who have Ellen on their team can join the Shark Frenzy event after ZZZ 2.0 is launched, which grants buffs. You also have the option to switch these changes on or off in Ellen’s skill menu if you wish to assess her performance compared to before, or prefer her original abilities.
