HoYoverse has announced that Durin will be a playable character in the upcoming Genshin Impact version 6.2, known as Luna III. He’ll be a Pyro-type character who fights with a sword.
Durin is the dragon whose body forms the foundation of Dragonspine, and upcoming story details about the Hexenzirkel will explain how he still exists in some form.
Historically, when people asked about the story of Durin in Mondstadt, they usually heard a sad tale: how the evil dragon Durin arrived with a horde of monsters, fought Dvalin, and caused great destruction before falling on the snowy mountains. However, recently, the answers people received have been different. While some still shared the tragic story, others spoke of a young man with horns, recounting funny stories about him at the tavern and how he and Klee often got in trouble with Acting Grand Master Jean. This led some outsiders to wonder if a new version of Durin’s story was circulating. They would often seek out Mondstadt’s famous bard for clarification. The bard, after a thoughtful strum of his instrument and a gaze towards the sky, would reply, ‘This isn’t just a different story, it’s an entirely new, and much happier, one.’
Fischl speaks of Durin, calling him a terrible beast who defies fate. She claims to have seen a vision revealing that something born from dreams will destroy countless universes. She vows to repeat Durin’s true name when the time of judgment arrives, challenging his destined enemy.
This text appears to be dramatic dialogue, likely from the game Genshin Impact, referencing a powerful and destructive being named Durin. It speaks of a ‘scourge’ and a creature that defies fate, claiming a newborn entity will cause the destruction of countless universes. The speaker mentions having seen through the fabric of reality with their left eye.

Okay, so from what I understand, Fischl was trying to explain that Durin actually came back to life because of M, who’s part of this group called the Hexenzirkel. It’s kinda complicated, but that’s the gist of it!
The next major update for Genshin Impact, called Luna III, is expected to arrive in early December 2025. The current version, Luna II, just became available this week, featuring the Nefer and Miliastra Wonderland content.
