As an unabashed fanboy, I’m absolutely thrilled to share that NFL sensation Travis Kelce is standing by his ladylove, Taylor Swift, after her phenomenal musical achievement. In a tantalizing sneak peek for the upcoming episode of his New Heights podcast, Kelce can be seen grooving to Swift’s 2012 smash hit, I Knew You Were Trouble, all in celebration of her impressive acquisition of her original music catalog.
The significant event unfolded when the esteemed NBA retiree, Shaquille O’Neal, graced the podcast as a special guest. At this point, Shaq chose to play a track from the Red-era on his phone, which instantly set Travis and Jason Kelce, both brothers, into a lively dance routine. “That’s my all-time favorite song, brother! I absolutely adore it,” O’Neal exclaimed, earning applause from the enthusiastic Kelces.
Travis Kelce followed up by saying, “I’d like to give a shout-out to Tay Tay. I just reacquired all of her songs, so now they truly belong to her. I’m grateful for it, buddy, and I love you, big Diesel.
Support for Swift has increased after she bought back the rights to her first six albums such as Red, 1989, and Fearless, which were previously owned by Shamrock Capital. The 14-time Grammy winner had acquired these original masters from Scooter Braun’s investment firm in 2020.
What did Taylor Swift say about owning her music?
Taylor Swift expressed her joy to her followers on Instagram, disclosing that after long-standing legal and emotional battles, she has regained ownership of her initial compositions. In a heartfelt letter published on her site, Swift penned:
Hello! Currently, I’m making an effort to organize my thoughts into a clear message, but at the moment, it feels like a continuous stream of images – a montage of times past when I dreamt about, longed for, and yearned to share this particular news with you.
She went on to explain that, after 20 years, she’d almost lost faith when the chance was repeatedly offered and then taken away from her. However, she now feels that this part of her life is firmly in the past. Furthermore, Swift revealed that she has completed re-recording her self-titled debut album from 2006 and has approximately 25% left to go on “Reputation.
She suggested that if the situation aligns perfectly, these remade albums might see the light of day at some point in the future. If they do, she added, it won’t stem from feelings of sorrow or nostalgia, but instead, it will be a joyful occasion.
