How To Watch The Transformers Movies In Order Of Chronology? Check Out Watch Guide HERE

As a lifelong fanatic of all things Transformers, I can confidently say that this franchise has been the cornerstone of my cinematic journey! From the moment Optimus Prime roared onto our screens in 2007, I’ve been hooked – and I’m not just talking about the Autobots’ powerful engines.

The Transformers movie universe, stemming from the well-known toy line, debuted on the big screen in 2007. Since then, it has expanded into a multi-billion dollar franchise with numerous films (including upcoming ones), some short films, and even a web series. Yet, the sequence in which these movies were released doesn’t follow the timeline you should watch them in.

The Transformers film collection has amassed more than $5 billion at the box office and spans a grand total of 1,002 minutes (equivalent to approximately 16 hours and 42 minutes) across its seven movies. Without a doubt, this media franchise is among the most beloved and widely recognized today.

Here’s a possible paraphrasing:

  • Transformers (2007)
  • Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
  • Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
  • Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)
  • Transformers: The Last Knight (2017)
  • Bumblebee (2018)
  • Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023)

Before the release of its eighth part, let’s figure out how to view the Transformers films in the correct sequence:

Bumblebee (2018)

1987 serves as the backdrop for Bumblebee, a movie that unveils Bumblebee’s first encounter with Earth and reveals Sam Witwicky wasn’t his first human friend. Hailee Steinfeld plays Charlie, a character who finds Bumblebee, acting on Optimus Prime’s instructions to set up an Earth base while the other Autobots fight Decepticons on Cybertron. Before the Decepticons arrive on Earth, Charlie helps nurse Bumblebee back to health.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023)

In 2023, I found myself immersed in the thrilling world of Transformers once more with the release of “Rise of the Beasts”. Interestingly, this time the narrative unfolds not in the present, but seven years ago in 1994 – a significant shift from where we left off after Bumblebee. Two fresh faces join the franchise in this installment: Anthony Ramos as Noah Diaz and Dominique Fishback as Elena Wallace. Their characters lead us on an exciting journey as the Autobots and Maximals endeavor to safeguard the Transwarp Key, a crucial artifact, from falling into the hands of the Terrorcons.

Transformers (2007)

In the movie Transformers from 2007, the real-world versions of the Autobots and Decepticons first appeared. The opening scene showed the destruction of their home planet Cybertron, where they were engaged in a fierce war over an artifact known as the AllSpark. Before being encased in ice, Megatron had already found this Allspark on Earth. Then, about a hundred years later, the Decepticons and Autobots arrived on Earth once more. During this invasion, Bumblebee ended up under the ownership of Sam Witwicky.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)

In Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, most of the initial cast reappears for this follow-up film, which serves as a continuation of the first movie. This new story unfolds two years after the events depicted in the original Transformers, featuring another intense clash between the Autobots and the Decepticons. However, it’s The Fallen – an entity aiming to wipe out all life – who commands the Decepticons this time around.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but reminisce about my favorite Shia LaBeouf flick – Transformers: Dark of the Moon. This epic tale unfolds a few years after the exhilarating events in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. My beloved character, Sam Witwicky, found himself once again entangled in an alien robots’ adventure. This time, he was instrumental in safeguarding groundbreaking tech unearthed on the lunar surface, a discovery that could potentially resurrect their home planet, Cybertron.

Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)

In “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” which unfolds five years following the incidents of “Transformers: Dark of the Moon,” a fresh group of human characters takes center stage, with Mark Wahlberg portraying Cade Yeager. The narrative follows Cade as he seeks out Optimus Prime while eluding the clandestine operations unit within the CIA known as Cemetery Wind. As you might expect, Cade and his family find themselves backing Optimus in his ongoing struggle.

Transformers: The Last Knight (2017)

The latest film in the Transformers series, titled “Transformers: The Last Knight,” takes place five years following the events of “Transformers: Age of Extinction.” In this installment, Optimus Prime embarks on a journey away from Earth to find his creator, leading him to cross paths with Quintessa, a powerful Cybertronian deity who manipulates his mind. Simultaneously, Cade discovers a mystical artifact on Earth and joins forces with the Autobots once more in their ongoing battle against the Decepticons within the Transformers universe.
