As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for quality entertainment and a rich background in animation and filmmaking, I must say that Migration is a must-watch gem of 2024. The movie, led by Benjamin Renner, mastermind behind Ernest & Celestine and The Big Bad Fox, takes the classic tale of family bonding to new heights with its captivating storyline, stunning visuals, and an ensemble cast that would make even the most seasoned critic swoon.
Once again drawing attention, the 2023 animated film “Migration,” directed by Benjamin Renner, has been brought back into focus thanks to a prominent streaming service – Netflix. Originally released in theaters on December 22, 2023, it later debuted on Netflix on August 19, 2024.
According to the most recent information, the movie “Migration,” directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Benjamin Renner, is now available for streaming in the U.S. on both Netflix and Peacock. The film can also be streamed on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV+.
The narrative focuses on the Mallard family’s journey, spearheaded by Mallard Pam, as she aims to break free from their routine life in the monotonous pond. Inspired by the tales of a group of adventurous ducks that visited their pond, she plans an excursion for her offspring to explore the Wonders of the World. By exposing them to the vastness beyond their secluded pond waters, she is eagerly preparing for the Wonders of the World trip.
Initially, the Mallards’ adventure from bustling New York to verdant Jamaica didn’t unfold as planned. Along the way, they encountered numerous obstacles. However, these hardships unexpectedly brought the Mallard family closer together. They not only recognized each other’s abilities but also uncovered hidden weaknesses. These experiences provided valuable insights into the world and their relationships for the young Mallards.
Benjamin Renner, acclaimed for movies like Ernest & Celestine and The Big Bad Fox and Other Tales, as well as the short film A Mouse’s Tale, has built an award-winning career in 2D animation. In a December 2023 interview with Animation Scoop, Renner discussed his hesitations about transitioning from directing 2D animations to a big Hollywood CG film project. He expressed, “I had my reservations when it came to taking on a major CGI movie.”
“[Light] extended towards me,” Renner recollected, expressing his uncertainty since he wasn’t well-versed in that particular field.
He further mentioned, “But I went in out of courtesy, thinking, ‘Let’s see where this goes.’ Chris Meledandri, the founder of Illumination, presented me with a pitch for Migration.”
Initially hesitant about venturing into computer-generated filmmaking, Renner found himself intrigued by the idea but initially resistant. Yet, the chance to work alongside a group of gifted artists proved irresistible, eventually leading him to take part in the creation of Migration.
Actor Kumail Nanjiani portrayed Mack Mallard, the loving husband of Pam and father to Gwen and Dax in the movie “Migration”. Voice artist Elizabeth Banks brought Pam Mallard to life. The impressive cast of this film also features Awkwafina as Chump, Danny DeVito as Dan, David Mitchell as Googoo, Tresi Gazal as Gwen Mallard, Keegan-Michael Key as Delroy, Carol Kane as Erin, and Caspar Jennings as Dax Mallard.
