Okay, so I’m totally hooked on Where Winds Meet, and the Hexi expansion just blew me away! It adds a huge new desert area to the game, which is awesome. It’s not just more land, though – the story and adventures feel really expanded too. They’ve added three completely new regions to explore, and honestly, I’m already lost in solving all the puzzles. It’s a seriously immersive wuxia RPG now!
Okay, so getting to the Hexi region isn’t as tricky as it seems! Once you know where to go and what to look for, it’s actually pretty fast. I figured out the route to Jade Gate Pass, and now I’m exploring Hexi, picking up new skills as I go. I’ll share the steps I took so you can get there too and continue your own adventures!
Drifting Through Dreams Questline
Start at the Bamboo Abode in the Qinghe region and head northeast from the Bamboo Retreat Boundary Stone, towards the water. As you approach the bamboo trees, look for Shi Qianqian – she’ll indicate you’re in the right spot. From her, walk to the water’s edge, and you’ll find a bag on the ground.
You’ll be sent to a new area within Bamboo Abode, located north of the Boundary Stone. Once there, in the forest, examine the large mural and then light the candle to your right. After the candle goes out, quickly take cover in the wooden shed behind you and follow the instructions to light the second candle.
After watching a peculiar cutscene, talk to the Veiled Lady. She’ll be at the table playing Mahjong in the shed, behind you.
She’ll eventually ask to meet you the following night. When that night arrives, light the candle again to bring her back. You’ll then see the Veiled Lady appear above the well.
Once you’ve talked to her, she’ll ask you to complete the mural. You can do this by examining the mural and pressing the ‘F’ key. After that, she’ll want to talk to you again.

In a cinematic sequence, she’ll lead you by the hand into another scene where you’ll plunge into water and then find yourself waking up in a cozy cabin. This is where your adventure in Hexi starts.
