How To Stop The Assassins’ Contract Against Sybille In GreedFall 2: The Dying World

Once you’ve finished the main story in GreedFall: The Dying World and returned to Teer Fradee, many new quests will become available. If you previously completed Sybille’s initial companion quest, her second quest will be among those you can now begin.

Okay, so this quest, like the last one, has a bunch of different ways to tackle it. Your choices actually matter, especially when it comes to how you build your relationship with Sybille. I’ve put together a guide to help you get the best possible ending in the Swordmen’s Contract – it’s all about taking down those assassins!

Find The Former Assassin

Sybille remains concerned about being attacked, despite receiving protection from either the de Vespe or d’Orsay families. She believes the key to her safety is discovering who originally ordered the attempt on her life.

Sybille has learned about a former assassin living in Peren who has turned her life around and is now dedicated to helping those in need. Head to the slums of Peren, following the map marker, to find the temporary hospital where she’s working.

When you enter the building, you’ll immediately see two volunteers. If you ask them about the retired swordswoman, they’ll let you know she’s currently working on an assignment.

Okay, so the game wants me to head to the map marker again to find Fulvia. Apparently, she’s going to get into a scrap with some bandits, which means I’m getting into a scrap too! Once that’s over, I get a choice: take out the bandits or let them go. If I want to get on Sybille’s good side, I definitely need to spare those bandits – that’s what the game is telling me, anyway!

Fulvia will share the information you need, including where to go next – a gathering spot for swordsmen.

Go To The Vineyard Villa And Look For Clues

Fulvia sent us to Vineyard Villa, which is located just outside of Peren. Be warned: it’s full of assassins with swords, and you absolutely cannot fight your way through them.

You’ll need to be stealthy to get inside, and if you’re caught, you’ll be sent back to the beginning. Fortunately, there are two ways to proceed. One option is to head right until you reach a locked door. If your mechanical skill is high enough – or you get lucky – you can unlock it and enter the area.

If not, turn left and enter the area through a field beside the building. Expect a lot of guards, but you can avoid them by hiding in the bushes. Alternatively, you can easily defeat them with stealth attacks.

Interestingly, guards won’t react if they find a body of an enemy you’ve stealthily eliminated, so you don’t need to be concerned about that.

You’ll find both clues on the left side of the property, and they’re both notes scattered around. The first note is right outside the archway as you exit the field, and the second one is just inside it.

It looks like a meeting is planned at the villa after dark. Enter the villa and find a good hiding spot to wait.

Gatecrash The Meeting And Deal With The Assassins

At the beginning of the meeting, you’ll overhear the assassins talking business with two newcomers. If you look closely, you’ll realize these visitors are Sybille’s parents, and they’re attempting to cancel the contract – the one meant to harm their daughter. You can progress the story in one of two ways:

Confront The Assassins

This is the simplest result, but unfortunately, it’s the least desirable. To achieve it, just continue walking forward until the assassins notice you. You’ll also end up with this outcome if you attempt the stealth check described below but aren’t successful.

If you proceed with this action, you won’t have the opportunity to speak with the assassins. Instead, they’ll kill Sybille’s parents and immediately attack you, initiating a conflict.

Pass A Stealth Check

When you leave your hiding spot, move low to the ground and approach the meeting. You can get close enough from the window if you’re concerned about being seen. After that, you’ll need to attempt a stealth check.

If Sybille succeeds, she’ll completely surprise everyone and get a chance to speak first. This will let you discuss everything with the assassins before any fighting begins. As you might expect, they’ll want to know how you found them.

  • Giving up your source, Fulvia, will get you +2 approval with Sybille.
  • Lying and saying your source was Prince de Vespe will result in no approval change with Sybille.
  • Refusing to name a source will result in -2 approval with Sybille.

No matter what you say, Sybille’s parents are always killed, and you are always forced to fight.

Return To Fulvia And Inform Prince de Vespe About What Happened

One of the attackers has a note with clues about the hit on Sybille. Bring it to Fulvia – she can translate it and tell you that Sybille’s cousin, Octave, is the one who ordered the attack.

Okay, so after dealing with everything else, we need to head over to the de Vespe estate. We have to bring Sybille with us so she can tell her uncle the terrible news about her parents – and that Octave is the one responsible. Apparently, her uncle will take care of everything after that, which will finish the quest and, thankfully, make Sybille like us a lot more!
