How to get a Material Retrieval farm in Monster Hunter Wilds

In the new game “Monster Hunter Wilds”, farms may not be present as they were in earlier versions, but you can still collect necessary resources and materials for a budding hunter.

Instead of having traditional farms, there are characters you can unlock later in the game, called Material Retrievals. These characters will gather specific resources such as Honey, Sleeps Herb, and various other useful items for you, reducing the tediousness of farming these resources manually in the field by doing it on your behalf over time.

In several key locations, you might encounter Material Retrievals sporadically. However, it’s beneficial to carefully scan each primary zone since that’s where they tend to appear. Here are some instances where we’ve encountered them, along with the methods we used to unlock them.

How to unlock Material Retrieval in Monster Hunter Wild

Name Location Unlock requirements
Apar Suja, Peaks of Accord HR15, Complete some of the local side quests
Rysher Wyveria, Sild, The Keeper’s Vigil HR15, Complete the “Astonishing Adaptability” side quest
Murtabak Kunafa, Windsong Village, Fields HR20, Complete “Beware the Gypceros” side quest
Sabar Oilwell Basin HR20, Complete some local side quests
Plumpeach WudWud Hideout, Forest HR20, Complete “Maker Fluffy Deadlings” sidequest

As we discover more places, we’ll add them to the list provided. However, it’s important to note that the first farm we stumbled upon was immediately accessible when we hit Hunter Rank 15. We encountered a Material Retrieval NPC situated at the summit of Suja. Upon speaking with them, they presented various items they could gather for us over time.

It’s crucial that you understand each Material Retrieval NPC can only locate a particular set of items, so it’s essential to use them wisely in order to gather everything necessary. For instance, one NPC might collect the ingredients required for making Tranq Bombs, which aid in capturing monsters more efficiently, while another could be gathering Ivy to create Pitfall Traps. This setup means we’ll never have to grind resources for traps again, as we can keep requesting them from these NPCs without end.

Once Suja’s Non-Player Character (NPC) has been unlocked, make an effort to finish as many side missions as you can in the other primary locations such as Plains, Forest, etc. Finishing specific side quests will grant you extra NPCs who can help you gather more items, eventually creating a diverse array of item farms for your selection.

To grab your gathered goods, feel free to chat with Nata at any moment from a Base Camp near your tent. Upon conversing with him, you’ll discover a Material Retrieval choice where you can gather all items that NPCs have found and adjust what specific NPC will search for if you desire a different resource than the one provided. You are also welcome to return to each NPC to collect their individual items, but interacting with Nata is the most efficient approach and simplifies the process.
