How to find and beat Mizutsune in Monster Hunter Wilds

The long-awaited first significant update for “Monster Hunter Wilds” has arrived! It introduces an extensive collection of fresh elements such as new weaponry, armor ensembles, and most notably, the appearance of the Mizutsune from “MH Generations”.

To clarify, here’s a step-by-step guide on how to defeat both the regular and tempered Mizutsune in Monster Hunter World:

1. First, you need to track down the Mizutsune. You can do this by using the Scoutflies to follow its tracks or by speaking with the Researchers at the base camp for any available quests.
2. Once you’ve located the monster, you’ll need to learn its patterns and weaknesses. Mizutsune is a water-based monster, so it spends most of its time in water. It has several attacks, including a powerful jet of water from its snout and a long-range water bombardment move. Its weak spots are its head and tail.
3. To defeat the Mizutsune, you’ll want to use weapons that excel against water monsters, such as the Long Sword, Dual Blades, or Bowgun (Pierce or Spread shots).
4. When fighting the Mizutsune, be sure to dodge its attacks and strike at its weak spots when it rears back to charge its water attacks.
5. Once you’ve defeated the regular Mizutsune, you may have a chance to encounter its tempered version in the Elder’s Recess or the Rotunda of the Roundtable. The tempered version will be more difficult to defeat due to its increased health and new attack patterns. Follow the same strategy as before, but be prepared for tougher fights.
6. Once you’ve defeated the tempered Mizutsune, you’ll have unlocked both versions of this monster in Monster Hunter World.

How to find and unlock the Tempered Mizutsune

Once you’ve finished Spirit in the Moonlight, you’ll gain access to locating and hunting the Tempered Mizutsune by attaining Hunter Rank 41. However, I could only discover the Tempered form of this monster within the Ruins of Wyveria.

How to beat Mizutsune in MH Wilds

In the game Monster Hunter World (MH Wilds), similar to Generations, being aware of your surroundings is crucial when battling Mizutsune. This beast not only unleashes a fierce combination of attacks like tail spins, charges, and jet streams, but also continuously releases harmful bubbles that can cause both Waterblight and Bubbleblight. The effects of Waterblight can be countered by rolling away or using a Nulberry, while Bubbleblight can be treated with a Cleanser. When enraged, Mizutsune can also inflict Fireblight, which gradually depletes your HP until it’s removed.

Here’s a simpler way to convey that information: Don’t stress about the Mizutsune; it’s vulnerable to Ice, Dragon, and Electric attacks. To defeat it effectively, focus on hitting its head with both Cut and Blunt weapons.

Aggression is important in this situation too, because Mizutsune’s large attacks are often predictable, even when close up. However, be mindful of its bubbles and jets, as a Tempered Mizutsune can swiftly defeat even well-prepared hunters by combining heavy damage with its effects. If you desire additional protection, wearing armor sets that offer water resistance is highly beneficial.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, similar to other major beastly armors, you have the ability to create both the Alpha and Beta variants of the Mizusune armor set. Once you’ve confronted Mizutsune for the first time, the High Rank sets will be accessible, and their individual components can be crafted using the following materials:

  • Mizutsune Helm: Five Mizutsune Scale+, three Bubblefoam+, and two Piragill Fin+
  • Mizutsune Mail: Two Mizutsune Cerfificate S, two Mizutsune Claw+, five Mizutsune Fin+, and one Wyvern Gem
  • Mizutsune Coil: One Mizutzune Cerfificate S, five Mizutsune Purplefur+, three Mizutsune Claw+, and two Torrent Sac
  • Mizutsune Greaves: One Mizutzune Cerfificate S, four Mizutsune Scale+, four Bubblefoam+, and one Mizutsune Water Orb

As a dedicated gamer, I always remember to reward my faithful Palico companions with the best gear. To craft the entire Alpha Mizutsune Palico set, you’ll need to exchange a Mizutsune Claw+ for the Parasol, a Mizutsune Scale+ for the suit, and a Mizutsune Purplefur+ for the Feline Mizutsune Kasa.
