In addition to fighting various creatures in Monster Hunter Wilds, one crucial focus in the game involves regularly gathering a wide range of materials for your hunter. These materials are essential for every facet of gameplay, whether it’s for preparing different dishes, trading with merchants, creating potent equipment, and many other purposes.
In Monster Hunter Wilds, a specific tool named Piragill Fins becomes increasingly valuable as you progress in ranks. Here’s a guide that will show you effective methods for gathering these fins if you’re unsure how to obtain them.
One handy item in Monster Hunter Wilds that proves more useful as your rank advances is Piragill Fins. This guide offers strategies on the most efficient ways to farm these fins if you’re uncertain about acquiring them.
How to Get Piragill Fins in Monster Hunter Wilds
In the thrilling world of Monster Hunter Wilds, I’ve discovered that Piragill Fins are a highly sought-after material for Equipment. These valuable items become available as you delve deeper into High Rank quests. Just as their name implies, these fins are harvested from the formidable Piragill monsters. Once you grasp all the methods to acquire them, getting your hands on Piragill Fins becomes a breeze!
One method involves accomplishing the quest titled “A Sharp Squad“, which becomes accessible once you reach HR 9. This task calls for the elimination of a total of eight Piragill monsters within the Scarlet Forest. Upon successful completion, you’ll be rewarded with several items as recognition for your work, including at least one Piragill Fin+.
As a gamer, I’d recommend venturing into the Scarlet Forest and hanging out with the Piragills, who usually call Areas 6 and 13 home. These guys are loaded with Piragill Fins+. Once I unlock the ‘Rest’ feature for my tent, I can really maximize this method by taking a break, which brings back anything I’ve slain or gathered in the vicinity, making it even more profitable!
You can acquire Piragill Fins for the third and last time by engaging in trades. As you finish additional tasks for specific characters in each major region of the game, you create new trade paths which Nata, your ‘Village Liaison’ at any Base Camp (or Grand Hub), will handle for you.

In the Wudwud Hideout within Scarlet Forest, there’s a key character named Musharpeye. He’s the go-to figure for acquiring Piragill Fins. From time to time, he’ll offer these in exchange for goods like Sparkly Treasures, which can also be found scattered throughout the Scarlet Forest. Additionally, your Item Retrieval vendors – once unlocked – may occasionally provide you with some, but this depends on a bit of luck.
How to Use Piragill Fins in Monster Hunter Wilds

As I explained earlier, Piragill Fins are an item that belongs to the Equipment Material category. They are mainly used for creating specific High Rank armor sets, such as Mizutsune, and talisman charms. Once you have at least one Piragill Fin+ in your inventory, it will enable new armor choices at the Smithy. So far, some of these options include:
- Mizutsune Helm (alpha/beta): 2x Piragill Fin+
- Piragill Greaves (alpha/beta): 3x Piragill Fin+
- Duna Wildgreaves (alpha/beta): 2x Piragill Fin+
- Breaker Charm I: 4x Piragill Fin+
- Guard Charm II: 5x Piragill Fin+
- Impact Charm III: 4x Piragill Fin+
- Water Charm III: 3x Piragill Fin+
If you don’t plan on using the extra Piragill Fins for crafting, consider selling them to nearby Item Provisioners for 425 zenny apiece. That’s not a small amount!
Should you find yourself with extra Piragill Fins that aren’t needed for crafting, you might want to sell these to local Item Provisioners for 425 zenny per fin. It’s not an insignificant sum!
