In Where Winds Meet, Exploration Points are key to character development. You earn them by discovering new locations, learning new abilities, and engaging with the game’s various systems.
Whether you enjoy casual exploration or challenging combat, this game offers plenty of opportunities to gain experience and unlock rewards. There are so many ways to earn Exploration Points that it can be hard to know where to start. Our guides will help you prioritize and maximize your point gains.
Exploration Points are specific to each region. You earn points for Qinghe by completing quests there, and you’ll need to do the same in Kaifeng to earn points for that region.
Discovering Boundary Stones
The easiest and most rewarding way to earn Exploration Points is by discovering new areas of the world. Look for and activate Boundary Stones – these unlock new parts of the map. Not only do they allow you to travel quickly around the world, but you also earn points to help you level up!
Each Boundary Stone gives around 50 Exploration Points.
Exploration Quests And Encounters
Exploration Quests and Encounters are side missions you discover while playing. Completing them unlocks new areas to explore and gives you more room for adventure. You start these quests by traveling the game world and meeting people who need assistance or have a job for you.
Side quests like ‘Gift of Gab,’ ‘Hotpot Fever,’ and ‘To Heal or Not to Heal’ are part of the Exploration Quests and Encounters. Completing these quests, along with finding Exploration Points, will reward you with Echo Jade, Enlightenment Points, and Coins.
Brief side quests and encounters typically award about 25 points, while more involved ones can earn you 50 to 100 or even more.
Meow Meow Puzzles
Meow Meows are special cats you might find unexpectedly while playing. You can identify them either by the clothes they’re wearing or by a paw print and bag icon that appears on your map.
Look for a red sword near each cat – they’ll give you quests. Completing these quests will earn you Exploration Points and in-game currency you can spend at their Temple Store.
Meow Meow’s challenges and puzzles are worth about 30 points each and are available everywhere.
Finding Chests
One of the easiest ways to earn Exploration Points is by finding and opening the golden chests scattered throughout the game world. You can find them in areas where you complete quests, tucked away in caves, or even on rooftops. Opening these chests rewards you with Exploration Points, experience, Echo Jade, coins, and Enlightenment Perks.
Chests come in different sizes, and larger ones usually contain better rewards. Be sure to search for chests everywhere – even small rewards can add up!
Depending on the type of chest, you could receive between three and 20 points.
Mini-games With NPCs
While not a fast track to leveling up, the mini-games in Where Winds Meet – like Fishing, Chess, Performances, Healing, and Drinking contests – offer a fun way to earn points and progress. They’re also relatively quick to finish.
Mini-games will give you around ten or more Exploration Points.
Collecting Oddities
Throughout the game world, you’ll find rare collectibles like flowers, small objects, and insects. While each one gives you only a few Exploration Points, there are many to discover in both areas. Collecting these items also helps fill out the Melodies of Peace tree, which unlocks special Mystic Skills.
Each oddity is worth around three points.
Enemy Fights
A great way to quickly earn Exploration Points is by defeating enemies throughout the game world. You’ll frequently find smaller challenges like outposts and world bosses, and tougher campaign bosses as you progress through the story and complete location-based quests.
Enemies come in different strengths, so you won’t be able to defeat them all at first. However, once you’re stronger, they’re a good way to gain experience and improve your skills.
Depending on the type of boss, you can receive between 20-100 Exploration Points per fight.
