Namielle is the first Elder Dragon players will face in Monster Hunter Stories 3, and it will be a challenging battle.

Taking down an Elder Dragon is much more challenging than fighting regular monsters. To succeed, you’ll need to carefully study Namielle’s attack patterns and build a team specifically designed to counter its weaknesses.

Best monsters to use against Namielle in Monster Hunter Stories

Namielle is especially vulnerable to Fire-type attacks, and also takes extra damage from Ice and Dragon. Even if Namielle changes forms, Fire remains its biggest weakness. Because of this, using Ratha or another Rathalos in your team is a great strategy, as their powerful fire attacks will be super effective.

As a fan, I’ve found Malzeno is awesome against Namielle because it hits her weaknesses without really being countered itself. The thing with Malzeno is it always uses attacks from two different elements, so the stronger your stats, the more powerful those attacks will be. Basically, building a diverse skillset with it is super important!

When Namielle’s shell is broken, it becomes vulnerable to Normal attacks. You can then use monsters like Seregios to exploit this weakness.

Best companion and gears to use against Namielle in Monster Hunter Stories 3

Eleanor is the strongest option. When equipped with her Great Sword, she’ll inflict Fire damage, which is particularly effective against Namielle. Having Glavenus on her team will also make her dodging much quicker.

You’ll need equipment that provides good protection against both Water and Thunder damage. Prioritize armor with high resistance to at least one of these elements, and then use decorations to increase your defenses even further.

Honestly, the weapon itself isn’t super important. But if it has Fire damage, that’s awesome! If I’m really trying to exploit Namielle’s Weakness, a weapon with just Normal damage is a solid pick too.

How to defeat Namielle in Monster Hunter Stories 3

While Namielle has okay stats, its attacks are predictable. It operates with just two distinct behaviors or phases.

  • Water Mantle: Does Water attacks
  • Abyssal Charge: Does Thunder attacks

To effectively fight Namielle, use Technical attacks against its Water Mantle and Speed attacks against Abyssal Charge. Once Namielle takes enough damage or its Wyvernsoul Gauge is empty, it will become vulnerable, allowing you to use Power attacks.

Prioritize maintaining your defenses and watching your Stamina. Be mindful when using Namielle’s ability to stop Stamina recovery. It’s also a good idea to stock up on helpful items before each battle.

After you beat Namielle, you’ll receive the Follower’s Testament Skill. If you already have it, it will be upgraded instead. You’ll also then be able to find Namielle’s egg in the Mirror Lake area, letting you get her again that way.
