The new ‘Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree’ expansion adds a challenging event called The Great Hollow, which significantly increases the difficulty of the game.

Okay, so there’s this new event going on, and it’s added a crystal curse to the whole game. Honestly, it’s kind of annoying because it cuts your health in half in certain spots! It makes getting resources way harder, which is a pain when you’re just trying to grind things out. It’s definitely a challenge!

Good news! You can get rid of the curse by finishing The Great Hollow event, and this guide will walk you through every step.

Elden Ring Nightreign The Great Hollow event walkthrough

Your goal is to find four blue crystals scattered around the map. They appear in random locations and at random times. When you’re exploring and come across one, you’ll need to break it to make progress and lift the curse. The crystals will look just like the one shown in the image.

As you approach a crystal, you can choose to interact with it and break it. Breaking a crystal will reveal that the Great Crystal is beginning to crack. To completely shatter the Great Crystal, you need to find and destroy four smaller, blue crystals.

As a player, I’ve learned that the little crystals almost always show up on day one. I really try to break all four of them right away, but if I don’t manage it, day two is usually enough to finish the job. Just be aware that where they appear and how often they spawn is totally random each time!

After breaking the four smaller crystals, go to the large Great Crystal in the map’s center. It’s marked with a red flag, just like other Shifting Earth events. Once you’re there, you can collect the bonus it provides.

Getting this power-up will break the crystal curse and make your abilities charge faster after you use all your healing potions. Once you do, you’ll always be at full health. If you’re new to the game, you’ll need to do a few extra things to access everything in the new content.
