How to claim Shiny Chi-Yu in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Players quickly surpassed the goal of defeating one million Chi-Yu in Tera raids after just one week of battling. While the initial raids saw a lot of success, the number of successful attempts decreased with each following event.

Players can now finally get Shiny Chi-Yu, Wo-Chien, Chien-Pao, and Ting-Lu in the game! This is the first time Chi-Yu has ever been available in its shiny form, and the other three Pokémon are available as rewards after completing raids.

Hey everyone, awesome news! You can snag a free shiny Chi-Yu right now through the Mystery Gift in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Seriously, it’s the *only* way to get a shiny one. They’ve locked the shiny version in the game, so you can’t find one naturally while playing. So definitely grab it while it’s available!

To get your gift, start by opening the main menu and choosing the Poké Portal. Then, scroll down to the Mystery Gift option and select “Get via Internet”.

The game will take a moment to load and connect to the internet if needed, then it will start searching for gifts. You’ll find two new ones: a rare, shiny Chi-Yu, and a pack of Fire Tera Shards. Both are worth claiming, but the shiny Chi-Yu is the most exciting reward.

The Ground Tera Shards gift provides players with 100 of each of four types of Tera Shards: Fire, Electric, Psychic, and Fighting. These shards can be used to alter a Pokémon’s Tera Type.

Here’s what’s good to know about these gifts: anyone can get the special Chi-Yu gift, even if they didn’t participate in the raids. It looks like this will be the case for future gifts too, meaning you won’t have to worry about missing out just because you were busy or couldn’t play at the time.

Also, the special Chi-Yu gift is only available until September 30, 2025. Don’t forget to claim it – and the Tera Shard gift – before then, or you might miss out!
